It was fun and interesting.. Swimming was good. Hot! But there were places to sit in the shade. Easy to get to.

I'm not sure why people visit this spot. It is a small dam where college sunbath. It isn't anyplace to go out of your way to visit.

Nice, clear water, free parking, free swimming, lovely river, what more can you ask for?? It's easy to access, has restrooms and a walking trail.

Easy access and FREE! Very nice. Uncrowded. Clean. Restrooms. Picnic tables, Local hangout, but lots of kids and families.

Great and unique for kids who like the water. Access might be a bit much for the elderly as it is a bit of a hike from the parking area to the actual attraction.This a large natural pool on the San Gabriel River created just north of downtown Georgetown. There is a pool both above and below the spillway dam. Oh, it open to the public and there is no charge.The only negatives are the lack of seating and somewhat limited parking.

I visited recently because of the January 10 "trout release" by Texas Parks & Wildlife. There are lots of folks fishing out there...particularly on the days right after the release.....but it's well worth it since...hey, rainbow trout fishing in Georgetown. They only do this once a year when the water temp is right for the trout, so check the TP&W website for exact date on future releases. I hadn't visited for several years. Some of the changes include a bathroom & you can no longer drive through the park. There's parking just up the road though. There are some picnic tables & grills if needed. El Charito is one of my old-time favorite Mexican food joints located within walking distance. The new "El Monumento" has a nice-looking patio/restaurant right next to the park that I will try sometime soon. There's a concrete walking path so a good place to visit then maybe grab dinner afterwards.

I used to swim at blue hole when I was a kid, but in the past few years the location has been overtaken by trashy people. There are a lot of people hanging out and drinking all over the place. Family's come out and while the kids run around like crazy the adults get drunk. The water is very nasty when it is not flowing. I would recommend only swimming if water is flowing over the damn. The cliffs seem like fun, but it illegal to even walk on the cliffs and you can't jump off. There have been a lot of people who have been hurt on the cliffs or jumping from them, so not a big deal for me. You can't bring glass containers to the park and it closes at sunset. I hope one day the park will return to what it used to be. I know the police are working constantly to help clean up the park, but they can do only so much.

This is a good place to just walk around, let the kids cool off in the water and eat at one of the near by restaurants or have a picnic.

Obviously I use a wheelchair and drive a van that has a ramp. There is not enough space for me to exit the ramp and there is no Van Accessible parking (which is required by the ADA that Georgetown continues to ignore by the way). So, the place looks lovely from the inside of my van... but obviously there was no way for me to experience the rest of it :(

Close to downtown Georgetown, TX. A great place to take the kids to cool off in the summertime. There is nearby parking and a bike trail available. If you want to sit and enjoy the view, try the patio at the El Monumental on Austin Ave.

Good free place to take the family swimming, but I suggest you only go when the river is flowing. If the water is still there is a chance you might get a leech or two.

I went here and took very good photos of my family and the water.Good 45 minutes stop and weekend outing. We did not get wet. Little too much walking for people with difficulty walking.

Wish we had something like this in Virginia, we took a nice long walk with our dog, stopped at the very clean restrooms. Recommend this place

This is a VERY popular swimming hole when summer comes around. You are no longer allowed to jump off the cliffs, which takes away a big part of the fun. The water is cool, but you cannot see the bottom. There were teenage boys smoking, and some men drinking beer. The bottom of the river is rocky and slimy and I really don't even want to think about what is down there. Of course, this is after all a river, and is free and part of the public park, so I had no great expectations. If you want to swim, try going to the Georgetown Recreation Center, which has a new splash pool just for younger kids. If you are a fan of swimming holes, I suppose this is a place you would enjoy. Still, I would choose one of the public pools any day.

I went with a friend to Blue Hole mostly to lay out on the shore for some sun; looking at some other reviews, we didn't have any issues with police though there are signs everywhere that say don't jump off the cliffs my friend and I both did it with no consequence other than a fun rush.I can definitely see what one reviewer said about the type of people that are around the pool; the best way to describe them is "redneck" without going into socio-economic descriptions. All in all, we had a great time, treat this place as a really nice, natural public pool. Don't bring out your cellphone and leave it on the shoreline while you swim, bring your own food, and enjoy yourself!
