texas heritage museum

This museum covers Texas military history in various wars. If you are driving past Hillsboro on I-35 and have an hour to spare, the museum is well worth a visit. It is open early (8 AM), too. Just be aware of the speed bumps (not marked at all) in the road leading to the museum.

Hill College is a small junior college. A visit to their Heritage Museum was a total surprise to me. Did not expect the quality of their presentations or the layout of their exhibits. If you ever wondered about Audie Murphy's roll in WWII that made him famous, you will find out here. The Boy Scout exhibits brought back a few memories. A Confederate Research facility is attached to the museum. If researching Texas ancestors or units during the Civil War, this is the place to start. The staff are excellent in helping locate documents, records, etc.

This museum is one of the best history museum's I have been to. A great collection of artifacts from every American war. Full of history for a medium size museum.
