It was raining so we did not do a lot here. The drive through the park was a beautiful drive and hope to come back and spend more time when the weather is better

What a nice weekend getaway for me and my husband. We rented a limited use cabin for a weekend getaway. The park was so peaceful. Fishing and canoeing was nice. Restrooms were always clean and the staff was so nice. Can't wait to bring the family this summer.

Beautiful park. They even had fishing poles to loan us to fish with!! Plan to go back in the summer time.

Spent 4 days at the beginning of December. Loved the small lake with good fishing. Campsites at Oak Haven Camp site are nice with lots of space between them and plenty of trees to buffer between sites. Cozy Circle Campground is a little too cozy for this gal! Park staff is friendly and very helpful. Hiking trails were beautiful as you went through forest and creek washouts! Will definitely return to this little gem!!

The park ranger is very knowledgeable and will give you lots of information about the progress made in the park since the fire. The trails are improving all the time, but we have not camped there since the fire. The RV park (Bastrop State Park) looks nice though. Bastrop State Park and Buescher share a road.

We went here on a whim and we were so pleased! It is beautiful here in the fall. The trees all in colors and the temps are just right. We had a few noisy campers around us, but you can't fault the park for that. The restrooms were cleaned many times during our stay. The park rangers were nice but didn't bug you like I've seen in other state parks. The trails are nice. There is a small playground for kids. We stayed in the electric/water camp sites and loved it!!! Lots of wildlife to see and if you need to get away from the city, come here. You can buy ice bags and firewood at the campsite office. We'll be back!

Spent a 3-day weekend here in October for a company team building get together. We rented the barracks section that had 4 large barracks, a huge kitchen dining area, plenty of tables and seating, a fire pit for late night conversation...very nice place and really enjoyed the weekend!

It is good to see the trees returning after the horrible fire a couple of years ago hitting Bastrop & Beuscher State Parks.

We went here for a Cub Scout camping trip, the setup is really nice, a common area with a WPA era stone building and plenty of shade trees as you're in the Lost Pines Forest. Hiking trails are nice and there is a lake for fishing and canoeing. The bathrooms are clean and include hot showers but they clean them everyday for a couple of hours in the afternoon.Overall I highly recommend Buescher State Park.

What a great place to take your family camping, or for just a day's outing. There's a nice little lake to take a canoe or other small boat. There's a kids play structure that looks brand new although it a a few years old. You can even rent a wood cabin if you prefer a real roof over your head. There's a road between Buescher and Bastrop that would be great to so in a bike. If not a bike, just a slow leisurely drive through the woods. Enjoy it!

This is a great park with lots of stuff to do. The ecology is loblolly pines, which is a unique patch of these pines - the western most stand in the U.S. and has led to the name "The Lost Pines" because they are not connected to those in east Texas. The park has every type of camping you could want. There are walk in tent sites a short walk to water, tent sites with water, sites for tents or RVs with water and electricity, RV sites with full hook ups, screened shelters with tent pads, and minicabins. Plenty of bathrooms and showers. At this park, you can hike, geocache, bike, fish, and rent kayaks or canoes. There are often programs offered such as geocaching workshops, guided hikes, night hikes, animal talks, and more so check the calendar. The park is connected to Bastrop State Park, where you can do many of same things (different trails) and swim in the pool. The park is five minutes from Smithville, which is a smaller town but has a few restaurants and a small grocery store so you can take an A/C break or get anything you might need.

We live 20 miles away and we have never been to this State Park before. We enjoyed a great day of fishing, food and friendly Park rangers. We arrived before the opened. So, we filled out the form, envelope and cash and went on our way. They actually came and found us and told us we paid too much. Of course we donated the money to the Park but we that was very nice of them.

Stayed here recently for a family vacation in one of their mini-cabins. We had a lovely time! The cabins are clean, the porch overlooks the lake, and are convenient to the restrooms. It's a smaller park, not affected by the nearby fires. The quiet is just what we wanted. The park rents canoes for fishing at just $5 per hr! The fish have been trained to eat the bait without getting caught, but it's so nice out there, who cares!

Drove out from Austin yesterday for some mountain biking at this state park. Rangers were very helpful, and gave us a color map of the trails. All trails are well marked; some are fairly challenging others not so much…but all were fun! Parking is easy and shaded. The park itself is beautiful, have a look at the old CCC buildings if you like that sort of thing.

Decided to stop while driving to Austin. So glad we drove through. This park is beautiful and can't wait to bring the family for a much needed vacation. Cabins are newer and nice, would be great if they had restrooms lol but I get it. The lake view is so peaceful and you can rent a canoe too. Also saw many fishing by the lake. Can't wait to go back and be able to stay a few days.
