This attraction is like a Smithsonian museum with huge Minature train configurations. It is very underrated. We went the day after a snowstorm so they clearing the parking lot of snow and getting the all the dioramas set up. The heating was slow but we kept our winter coats on. They literally have miles of tracks with some landscapes over 20 feet tall. Well worth the admission price and kept our 2 year old grandson entertained for almost 3 hours.

This is one person's amazing work of art. If you love trains and miniature settings you will love this. It is not glossed over but instead a true rendition of an individual's fascination with train displays and model trains. I truly believe this place is amazing and an absolute gem. I walked away with a smile. And you can meet the creator right at the place. A great adventure!

Visited Northlandz today on February 21, 2015 and was disappointed do to the fact that is was freezing in the building. It got a tiny bit warmer when we got higher in the building. i collect N gauge trains and every locomotive was the same type and only pulling a couple of cars. There was not Steam engines, passenger cars ect and we really had to wait a bit to see the same type of locomotive go through. if I ran the Gift Shop I would (call me crazy) sell trains in all gauges and sell train sets. All the trains we saw had no sounds coming out of them. Also pay someone to clean the bathrooms. It was disgusting. I see the potential for this place if u changed the system to DCC and didn't use the same locomotive over and over again. There is lots of space in that building for a couple of large layouts in other smaller gauges like N and Z.

If you like trains this is a wonderful place to go. So much to see. Very enjoyable. Great place for young and old

My two-year-old grandson was beside himself with excitement at seeing all the trains, and tunnels, and bridges. I thought he was going to explode. I enjoyed it mostly because I loved the wonder in my grandson's voice.

If You Love Model Trains you must go to this place. It is the best display of model trains I have ever seen and it is all in one building. I believe it is 100 miles of tracks and it is absolutely worth seeing.

For the model railroad enthusiast, both young and old, Northlandz is something to behold. Room, after room of connected layouts with miles of tracks, amazing bridges and spectacular scenery. There's also an impressive doll museum and outside there's a scale steam train that takes you for a ride.

My son is a big train fan. The dustiness of this place is not worth it. The "doll museum" was a creepy collection of someone's obsession of every kind of doll. Do the Black River train ride instead & spend your afternoon on a real train.

I had a great time taking my son here. It's a huge working model train museum with some other collectors items in there. Basically trains as far as the eye can see and pretty neat landscapes & cityscapes. Reasonable price all things considered. Friendly staff too. I would go again in the summer. The only two concerns I had - It was very chilly inside the exhibit...I would suggest dressing warm if you go in the winter or fall. My other thought....nothing is interactive. Lets face it, half the fun of the toy/model train is being able to control the speed and direction yourself. It would be great if they turned some of the exhibits into an interactive area, allowing the visitors to control trains, cars or ships (or something to hold peoples interest a little more).

The model railway is awesome for both children and train lovers. If you have friends with model railways they will really enjoy a visit.

This is not your ritzy museum, supported by fundraisers and huge allotments up public money. Instead this is quite an incredible display of what a persons enthusiasm for a "hobby" can lead to. You are walking through two interconnected floors of a person's life work. 8 miles of tracks surrounded by room after room of miniature landscapes. The amount of detail and creativity is astounding. We took our kids (5 and 2) on a cold afternoon and they loved it. To be honest I loved it. We spent north of an hour walking through the museum admiring the display. Yes, some reviewers correctly point out that the facilities are not top notch or that there is definitely a feeling of homemade in places but this adds to the charm. We will take our kids back.

Nice place for the kids and train enthusiast. A little old inside, and maybe a make over is needed, but an awesome display overall. My kids love it, and its worth the minimal price of admission.

This place is a work of love by a train enthusiast. Some of the criticisms in the below reviews are valid but if you want a place where you can tell someone's heart went into making this museum, put Northlandz on your list. These train experiences are the most immersive I have ever seen. The amount of work that must have gone in to creating this place is astounding. We enjoyed it immensely. I brought my 3 and 4 year old with me and while some of the exhibits are a little tall, every exhibit has a place where little ones can stand to see the trains. If you are bring someone under the age of 2, you may want to consider a baby carrier. This is not like going to a museum with just a big trainset but peaking into a whole world of trains.

I recently took my 4 year old to Northlandz and was quite impressed myself. My son has been obsessed with trains since he was 1 1/2 and I felt this was the right age for him to really enjoy the attraction. I must say I found myself enjoying all the detail that goes into creating each scene. If this is your first time going as it was mine I would like like to share a few things. First, I almost passed the building. The entrance is BEFORE the sign so I just wanted to give all of the moms and dads a heads up on that. Second, be sure to take the outside train ride (which is enclosed). The kids love it and I found the scenery to be quite beautiful by the water. I had read several other reviews prior to going and all said that there weren't any bathrooms throughout the display and that is correct. It took my son and I approximately 2 hours to look at all the trains from start to finish. There is a bathroom when you first walk in and the workers stronly reccommend you use that prior to entering the display. I also read that you are not allowed to go backwards during the display. I cannot verify this information as we did not need to. There is a tiny and I mean tiny place to eat when you first walk in and you are able to purchase snacks and drinks to bring with you during your walk through. Just remember no bathrooms. But if you plan on eating a meal there you may have to wait awhile so I would strongly suggest eating elsewhere before you arrive. We were lucky enough to go on a day when it seemed as if we had the entire place to ourselves and it was wonderful. The displays were amazing especially in the eyes of a 4 year old. If you are train lover or know someone who is I would highly recommend this place to them. For me, nothing could beat the smile of my sons face when he walked in and saw all of the displays!

The scope of this place is impressive. The attention to detail is amazing. While it could use some refreshing, it's still pretty amazing. The kids get wowed by it every time we go. We go once per year with the kids. If you get the chance, ask the owner when he's going to play the organs or pianos. That's a pretty cool experience.
