scores sports bar and grille

While in Keene for business, I stopped by for drinks and a snack. I had heard some positive things from my waitress at lunch as well as from the gentleman at the front desk of my hotel. Scores is only 100 yards or so from the hotel I stayed, and just off the main drag so it was convenient as well. Walking in it had a warm and friendly atmosphere, I was greeted at the door by a very large and very friendly doorman, after having a brief chat with him (and laughing most of it- he had quite a sense of humor) I sat at an empty seat at the bar. Very attractive decor, very clean bar and well lit. The bartender (Anthony was his name)was prompt and very friendly. Regardless of the fact that he had an almost full bar he still took time converse and made me feel as though he was MY bartender. So frequently these days bartenders have lost that skill, the ability to make a personal connection and instill that feeling of the classic barkeep who is always there to listen. Anthony was both informed (not only answering questions but offering knowledge as well) and skilled, making me a perdect Manhattan after recommending an outstanding bourbon from their "Bourbon Club". I ordered some wings which proved to be delicious and came expeditiously. The crowd was mixed, with all sorts from college age to retirees. Scores is a sports bar, as the name eludes to, as such they had several large high definition televisions that were showing a plethora of sports. They did manage to keep the volume at a level that allowed you to hear the "featured" game clearly but also converse without the sound being pervasive. I left feeling as though I was leaving behind new friends instead of anonymous strangers. Kudos to the owners for not only having a fantastic bar, but for staffing it with gentlemen who obviously care immensely about customer service and also keeping traditions alive in an industry that seems to have forgotten its roots. I look forward to revisiting next time I'm in the area.

This was my first visit to Scores Sports Bar & Grille in Keene, NH. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. There are several big screen TVs for your viewing pleasure with many programs to watch. The band was entertaining and drew their audience into the performance. There were even line dance lessons being given as part of this particular night's entertainment, which was really fun. It is a family-friendly environment where children of all ages are welcome in the company of responsible adults. I will definitely be going back there again!

Let me start by saying this IS NOT the Railroad Tavern. It is still a good place for under 30 year olds, but do not let that stop you from checking this place out. This is a fresh upbeat place that Keene has needed for a long time. Bartenders were very friendly and knowledgable about drinks, seating was comfy and the drinks were spot on! After 9, the Upper Deck Club opened up and a DJ started playing music. There were girls on the dance floor, there even a few people breakdancing. The only reason we left was to get food because the kitchen was closed here. Nothing but love for Scores!

Stopped in to check out the place as its under new ownership and recently reopened. What a massive improvement! Clean updated interior, with wall to wall giant flatscreens to catch any game, and completely redesigned aesthetics. The service was superior, from the very large and very friendly doorman to the absolutely lovely waitress. They were friendly and funny as well as super attentive. They made us feel like we were regulars. The food was very good, not what we expected in what is really by definition a bar. We will definitely be returning, hopefully on a weekend when they have live music and dancing.
