Beautiful scenic trail. Well maintained surface and easily accessible. I enjoyed running on this trail while visiting Keene, NH.
You can do long portions of this Rail Trail or get on it at one of the many places along the way and do as little as you like. Hard packed stone dust and almost flat gradient make this a popular and easy trail for all ages.
The Rail Trail is a must visit if you want to get out and get some exercise while you are in Keene. The trail is very well maintained and wide enough to accommodate runners, walkers and bikers.
We've used the Rail Trail for biking, walking and horseback riding. They are plenty wide, well kept and scenic. In the winter you can also x-country ski and snowmobile on them which makes for year round fun and usefulness. Highly recommend checking them out!
Get out on your bike! Enjoy this corner of New Hampshire! Whether visiting the college, wandering NH, or just looking for some exercise, try the intersecting trails in this area!
A great trail for the whole family. It has plenty of interesting stops and picture taking opportunities. The kids love the bridge over Rt. 9 in Keene.
This trail has everything... some flat hard surface areas, some very "bumpy" soft dirt/sand areas. Beautiful scenery
The rail-trail is a great way for bikers in Keene to get around. It's well taken care of, and can be useful for people in the area to get to local shops and attractions. I use it to get to work every day, and I love it. The scenery is not so nice, however it's not bad.
We only walked a small portion of this rail trail but could see that it was kept up. Next time we come to this area I want to bring our bikes so we can see more.
We use this trail often for our walks. It is pretty clean whenever we are there. We have never felt unsafe while walking with our children.
I used this every other day when I stayed in downtown Keene for a couple weeks. The branch out of Keene center is excellent, taking you to rural areas after going over a long, lovely ped bridge. There are maps available for free at hotels (e.g. Keene Courtyard) that are much better than any map I have seen online. All dogs were on leashes and all bikers respectful for hikers and runner. There are no potties that I saw, so you'll have to duck into the woods or pee your pants if nature calls. Plan ahead. The CVS/Panera conplex on West Street is at the "trailhead" for this rail trail, so you could eat/stock up there if you desire. The tralhead is across from Elm City Brewing at the Colony Shoppes and their parking lot has ample spaces if you are driving and wish to park at the begnning on this branch. It goes way out by Keene golf course and on and on.
one of two major bike trails in Keene. This one starts out the back door ofthe marriott courtyard. hard surface good for walking ,running or biking(not so great for dogs ) can't beat the convenient location. apx 33 miles long. the other trail is Ashuelot rail trail, 23 miles long and starts on Emerald Ave, short walk from main st. They akinda connect if you take a side street thru town.
Keene, NH impressed us - they have a rail trail for outdoor activities. The town is making efforts to recycle and keep green both esthetically and philosophically.
