If you are looking for a beautiful, but rustic setting for an event, you should check out Stonewall Farm. This working farm host an education center along with a refurbished barn that serves as an event facility. Rustic farm look on the outside, beautiful on the inside. A great combination...
Spent about three hours here with a friend and our children ranging in ages from 4 through 14. All had a nice time. We saw many animals including alpaca, sheep, cows, horses, goats and bunnies. There's a playground and a small creek. There are several nature trails, and a map to help you not get lost. Ice cream was delicious and reasonably priced ($2.00 for a one scoop cup). The Discovery Room is intended for children aged 3-8 but all of ours had a fun time in it, and since our kids were the only ones in the room we didn't have to worry about our tweens and teens hogging toys actually meant for younger children. When you get to the farm be prepared to walk around independently and just check it all out on your own. If you're in the area with children I definitely recommend stopping in for an hour or two. Considering it's all free you just can't go wrong. Donations are accepted at various spots if you want to help support them.
Wander around, hike trails, go in buildings. Be sure to check out their homemade granola bars in the farm market. We tried the honey sticks as well. Very tasty.
First out of the barn, the girls performance was a site to see. This event is a must see for adults and children alike.
We made the short scenic drive to the farm and were excited to see a working New England farm and make a few purchases. When we arrived we thought it was pretty and looked interesting, but after walking in the buildings and store and around the animal stalls we were never greeted and a little confused as to what to do or see. It looked like it was more of a place for school children to take a field trip to. We left without any interaction from anything but a chicken crossing our path.
As soon as you pull in to this farm you know its a great place to visit. In the fall they have hayrides, and celebrate the season, with nice fresh apples, and apple cider. They also have maple sugaring, and syrup freshly made. I've been to many different celebrations there, and they are very informative and a layed back style. If you go, just know to dress appropriately, you will want shorts/pants, and comfortable shoes. There is a small petting farm there and across the street are the cows, and cow barn. This is very popular with school outings, and they are fabulous with children. They have their own beehives and just about everything else you can image that comes grown from the earth. Yes, there is a newer building that can house parties, and its log cabin style, and comfortable. I would not have a huge wedding here myself, but a down to earth wedding, or any other party would be fun, complete with beautiful fireplace if my memory is right, but be sure to ask to make sure. I've been to Maypole dances there, with actual Maypoles, and played instruments from years past. Home School children know this place well, and its a great educational trip for them to enjoy each time they go, all year long. They do have summer camp, and its a hands on experience. Chores need to be done to keep up the farm! Check out their website, I'm sure you will find all the information you need, and if not call and ask, everyone is NH friendly!
It seems like this place would be very cool if you were able to check out the programs that they put on. We were only there for a wedding. It was a very pretty setting but if you choose to have your wedding there be advised there is no room for a dance floor so you have to lose about three of your guests tables after they eat. It is not pleasant for the guest as there is no place to store their stuff after their table is gone.
The farm was purchased by a man who wanted to make farming accessible to children. While it is a working dairy and crop farm, they offer many educational programs for schools and families, all year long, including summer camps. They also have a beautiful event hall that is often booked for weddings.
Wonderful hands-on experience for my friends and their children any time of year.
Wrong picture here...someone needs to change it.Great place to take the kids for a sleigh ride in the winter.
Our family has enjoyed taking spontanious trips to Stonewall Farm just to let the kids pet the cows and other farm animals. Once they even got to take a tour trying to find frogs. And at NO COST! Which is fantastic.
Was in Keene to attend a wedding at the Stonewall Farm and it was a beautiful venue.
While we are proud to offer the community the use of our grounds from dawn to duskwith no gate fee, we are unable to staff every weekend; it sounds as though thegroup of people that you approached were not Stonewall Farm staff or volunteers, butwere still able to point you towards some of the different areas of the Farm.To our visitors, we offer a window into genuine farm life. We encourage ourvisitors to check out our gardens, our new solar geodesic dome, our organic dairyoperation, our play area, and our farmstand, as well as our hiking trails which roamthrough 130 acres of conservation land. At our kiosk in the main parking area, youcan pick up self-guided tour cards, and activity ideas for kids to help them explorethis working farm. Also look for our special events on the Farm, including our Fall Fun on the FarmDays with rides to the pumpkin patch, Thanksgiving Farm Fare, February Farm Dayswith hot cocoa and marshmallow roasting, the Sap Gathering Contest, and our AnnualArt Auction.
