I've been coming up here the past couple of years for a get together with friends and we always have an enjoyable stay at the Peters Resort. There's a wide range of rooms and cottages depending on your price range and whether you're looking for more of a cabin feel or not. I would definitely recommend trying for something facing the lake because the view at sunset is really beautiful. Not being an avid golfer, I enjoy the wide range of activities available ranging from boating to ping pong to a water trampoline. The owners are very accommodating and friendly and the service has always been excellent. This is definitely an ideal place to get a little closer to nature and I imagine it would make for a very memorable family reunion. The food is very reasonably priced for how good it is and we have never lacked for comfort in any of our rooms. As someone who is active and enjoys the outdoors, I just really like being able to come here and enjoy the peace and quiet while taking advantage of all the fun activities (for both adults and children) that are available.
This was our 3rd year staying here and after each stay we can't wait to come back! The grounds, beach, boat rentals, golf course, and campfires were great. They should update some of the rooms but the big house is newly redone and very nice. The restaurant food was surprisingly tasty too. Top notch service from this almost 100 year old family business. If looking for a relaxing lake and golfing vacation this is your spot!
We had previously spent several summer vacations at Peters when our kids were younger, but as they got older, our vacations changed. We decided this year to go back to the beach and just have a relaxing week of time together, and we are so glad we did. The resort was just as we remembered it, the staff was so friendly, the food in the dining room was great, the views were amazing. We left feeling rejuvenated, and decided we aren't going to wait 10 years to return to this lovely resort. Thanks to everyone at Peters!
Our extended family has been coming here for 10+ years. We stay in the larger Pezhekee Cabin which is beautiful and very spacious. There is something for everyone here; the lake, golfing, tennis... We always look forward to coming back very summer!
If you're looking to gather to spend quality family time, this is a great location. There are several sizes of accommodations to suit whatever size group you have, with plenty to do. Lake and golf course are great, with tennis and shuffleboard as well. Our family gathered almost 50 people for 4 days - spread out over townhouses, large lodges, and small 1 bedroom units. The staff is friendly and helpful, and while some of the cottages are dated, they were all clean and a great value for the price. Nearby town has more things to do in the event of bad weather, but if the point is to spend time together, you don't need to leave the resort.
We had a group of 16 between ages 65 and 1. They were very helpful in the reservation process recommending appropriate accomodations. We ended up staying in 2 side-by-side townhouses which were both very well appointed. We used the kitchen and the charcoal grills to make all of our meals, though the dining room looked very inviting also and would have like to try a meal there. The grounds were absolutely beautiful and there were several large raspberry patches around and we all enjoyed those! The playground area was perfect for our little ones and the big ones enjoyed the pool table, ping-pong and the beach. We had plenty of room in front of our townhouse to play lawn games and baseball and soccer. The road in front of the lake was perfect for long walks and bike rides. And the golf course was also beautiful and fun to play. The beach area was great with a nice waterplay area. We also took advantage of the beuatiful evenings to have bonfires on the beach. The only complaint we have has to do with the lake itself, though beautiful and nice clear water, the docks were all too shallow and we had to go to several different docks to find one that would accomodate our inboard motor, when we finally did get it into the water, there was a pile of rocks behind the dock that took out our propeller when pulling away fromt he dock. Nothing to do with the resort though, just beware if you are planning to use your own boat. Our entire family commented we would come back here many times in the future.
Our weekend was fantastic--friendly staff, clean rooms, kid-friendly activities including swimming, playing in the sand, trampoline, and playground. Our grandchild caught her first fish off the dock in front of our rooms in the Court building. We ate breakfast in the dining room; food was nutritious, delicious, and reasonably priced. We walked the property grounds and were amazed at its beauty and well-maintained appearance. We are already planning next summer's get-a-way with our children and grandchildren!
The Lodge building is great but the cabin we stayed in was a joke. Cabin 8 was a major disappointment. This cabin rents for $179.00 per night and it should be torn down. If you don't mind paying marroitt prices for a run down, worn out, has'nt been up dated or maintain since the early 50's this is the place for you. You would not believe the bathroom, that's all i'm going to say. This place could be so great with some up keep. we will never return till this happens!!
We stayed in the big house and had plunty of room. everything was great people were friendly on resort and in town . had small children they too had a wonderful time. would refer for people who just want to relax. i did.
We selected Cottage #106 because it was presented as a beachfront cottage -- the road running in front of the cottage was not apparent on the Web site. As we were traveling with two little ones, we wanted easy access to the beach. Upon arrival, we saw the road and proceeded to encounter other disappointments like the ants in the kitchen and cramped bathroom. On a positive note: the view of the lake is lovely, breath-taking, really. I'd visit the area again in a heart beat but skip Peter's next time.
