My husband and I attended "Pop Up Musical" at the Plymouth Playhouse recently and had a enjoyable evening. I love theatre. My husband tolerates this interest:) And music makes my heart sing. We live in the Midwest and during winter, every little bit of uplifting activity help to make it to the long awaited "SPRING" This musical succeeded in doing just that. The musical is a composite of a variety of show tunes with the "pop-up" angle weaving a thread through disassociated plays. It works. It's light. It's fun. Very talented artists, enjoyed every single song and made for a relaxing evening that was just easy. I like the Plymouth Playhouse. We attend theatre in 3 different locations with the Guthrie being one of them. This playhouse is on the small side and comfortable. It feels like viewing the entertainment with family. I have hearing issues and it's always easy for me.
The Alley Cats Doo Wop Christmas was playing the weekend after New Year's Day so my wife and I went to see it. The Playhouse is in the basement of the Best Western hotel, but it is very spacious, comfortable and has installed new seating since the last time we visited the place. The Alley Cats featured acapella singing and were funny as well as very good vocalists. I had not really expected to enjoy the program as much as I did.
A group of us went to the Doo Wop Christmas show with the Alley Cats at the Plymouth Playhouse. We all LOVED it. Their harmony was wonderful-great voices! We enjoyed their singing as well as their humor. I would definitely recommend this show-it will fill you with the holiday spirit
The Alley Cats Doo Wop Christmas was stellar! The Playhouse is cozy- it's in the basement of a hotel, but don't let that scare you away. It wa fun, sold out, and everyone enjoyed themselves. Will definitely go back!
We went to see Ring of Fire and it was amazing. The cast was fantastic and it just floored me how every cast member could play all the instruments and sing. And it is such an intimate theater that there is not a bad seat in the house. I will be returning again and again.
We have been to several plays at the Plymouth Playhouse which is located in the lower level of the Kelly Inn. I can't say enough good things about it. They have fun entertaining plays that make you feel good when you leave.
Loved "Church Basement Ladies" with friends from high school and again with my "Fudge Sisters" 3 girlfriends who love girlfriend getaways, shopping, laughing and fudge or anything chocolate! Great place to enjoy with family and friends!
and I sincerely hope that this is not the last play written for us church goers! Not only are they entertaining but such good actors who seem to thoroughly enjoy themselves too during the production. Memorable moments are set to a wonderful production with lots of laughs and giggles. It is well worth the money to see this live production and so easy for those of us who come from outside the twin cities to locate! We'll be back!!
The last of the series has a few months left. The current show, "Church Basement Ladies, The Last Supper," is every bit as good as the previous shows in the series. Brings back lots of memories! All of their shows are very well done and great fun. Like any theater production, it is not inexpensive, but it is well worth what you pay.
If you've missed the first few shows of The Church Basement Ladies you have missed some great performances. I laugh so hard at these performances as I recall the Potluck Dinners we had in our church. This is their final performance and luckily it has been extended to June 2014 so try to make time to see this one. The Plymouth Playhouse is a smaller theatre but is wonderful for those who are hearing impaired because it's easy to hear the actor/actresses. There is plenty of space between rows and seats are nice sized so you don't feel crowded. They have sodapop, candy and popcorn available which you can eat at your seat. It is located in the lower level of the Best Western which also houses the Green Mill restaurant. There is also a Red Robin restaurant close and a Marriott Residence Inn a few blocks away. They do offer packages so ask at the box office. Parking is free.
For someone who loves live performances and freshly written plays, this was truly a fun evening. We were visiting the area and found this gem, and or course wanted to see the Church Basement ladies play. They did a wonderful job and its held in a cute place- inside a hotel.I know if I lived in the area, we would be regulars here. Support live shows!
The current production title,"The Last Church Potluck" implies it is the last of the popular and hilarious 'church ladies' series. It is written by two women about the 'church basement ladies', those precious souls who are always there for the funeral dinners, potlucks, welcome and goodbye dinners, etc, etc. It is so true to life, but extremely well-done capturing the high and low moments of serving! The performers are outstanding vocalists. Their timing of hilarious anecdotes as well as the flashback aspect of this performance kept our attention and our laughter throughout the performance. We certainly hope this is not the last of the 'series' even though the current basement may not be the venue for the next play. You'll have to see it to understand the last comment!
We went to a musical called Church Basement Ladies-The Last Potluck Supper. The singing and acting was very professional and well done. The humor and the singing was fantastic. We loved it!
Went to the see the final chapter of the Church Basement Ladies tonight, and it was fantastic. Had great front row seats. The music was great. The actors have perfect timing with one another. The entire show was hilarious and very touching in some parts. Overall it was a very fun evening. I would highly recommend it. FYI ...You don't need to have seen any of the previous shows to enjoy this one.
I have seen a number of productions here, and only once have been disappointed. The Church Basement Ladies series is especially good ( I have seen three of them and will soon see a 4th). The theater is convenient, especially to north and west sides of the suburban area.
