I wasn't pleased that a mobile home and garage had been moved on site. The old house looked the same but the area seemed changed.

A nice little day trip for Buffalo Bill enthusiasts. There is also a church in the area where Buffalo Bill's brother is burried.

Well preserved and and nice pieces from the time period. There are live buffalo on the property which is nice for the kids.

My son had a school project on Buffalo Bill. They staff spent time with him answering his questions and showing him around. Thanks!

Buffalo Bill, William F. Cody, lived in this house for a short while as a boy. His father built the original native limestone portion in 1847, the post-Cody frame addition is circa 1870. The home is jammed with period pieces, many supplied by the Colonial Dames of Iowa, none that I saw were connected to Cody. The provenance of items is questionable, the attendant was unhelpful. $2 admission fee, open April 1 to November 1, the home is out in the country 20 minutes from Interstate 80. Cards and a few trinkets are for sale. Five bison graze in the adjoining field, sometimes a good distance away. I can only recommend the home to Buffalo Bill fanatics, Scott County residents, and people who can't get enough of mediocre 19th century artifacts.
