My last review was the first time I had been here, but it still stands. This time we went for lunch. This place is more of a lunch joint after or before golfing. While we sat indoors, they have nice seating outside when the weather is nice.Anyway, We both got the Double Eagle burger. Two hand crafted patties, thick bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato, thin sliced pickle spears and a unique pretzel bun. The bun was not like any I have had and it was incredible. I find the buns you get at a Wendy's or Costco are too doughy and chewy, where this one looked more like a small funnel cake. The burgers were grilled to perfection. We got a salad, that was XLNT, but you can get soup or fries. Not only did I leave satisfied and full, it is the best burger that I have had anywhere in the greater, CDA/Spokane area. This incredible burger was $9.99. I cannot wait to go back and order it again. I only hope it is on the menu, even if the price has increased.

I was invited for dinner at Avondale Golf Club. My wife and I dressed, what we thought, accordingly. I wore slacks and a button up shirt. Fortunately, a relative once stated that you can never be overdressed, but you can always be underdressed. Most everyone in the restaurant/Bar and Grill was wearing jeans. When we entered the eatery, it looked like a fancy chow hall for inmates, though there is a bar, but it is not metal. Too many empty tables and too little atmosphere. It does not cost much to create ambiance, but it is obvious the management does not know the meaning of the word. The chairs were comfortable, but after ten minutes the bottom of my legs started to sweat. Turns out the chair cushion is covered in some cheap vinyl. The chairs look nice and appear recently recovered, but the easy cleaning pleather should have been done in a breathable material, with specific customers in mind. The waiter came quickly and was very friendly, but after 20 minutes of talking with our host, I started getting irritated. Doesn't the wait staff at a restaurant know that we are not there to visit them. Isn't this server etiquette 101?The menu is what I expect when I go for lunch and a round of golf at a municipal course. On Friday, they apparently have Prime Rib for dinner and on Saturday night, the night we came, the special is blackened leftover Prime Rib. Since I had a rib steak the night before, the only choice that looked good was a burger; they also do wraps and salads. Three of us got the same burger, but one got the Prime Rib. The next day my wife asked me what it was, and when I told her, she disagreed with me and thought it was meatloaf or something. While the price was right, I was happy to have chosen a burger.I was impressed with the burger. It was a 1/3lb. grilled burger, with bleu cheese crumbles and grilled onions. It came with one side only, so I got the fries. Everything was good, but I left hungry. The prices are fair.I did wait about 8 or 10 minutes to get some mayonnaise for my burger, but had to walk to the kitchen to get some. Not only did our waiter not come back after he brought us our food, he never looked our way when I tried to flag him down. I ended up following him into the kitchen. The server cleaning tables near us, was so preoccupied with what appeared her own personal issues, I was never able to get her attention.By the time we were finished eating, the place was empty and it wasn't even 8:00PM. Since the place has TV screens in various locations in the chow hall, the underworked staff sat at a table near us watching basketball. No issue in itself, until they started yelling too frequently, interrupting our conversation and regularly apologizing. I would have rather been at the armpit dump called Capone's than here. Even that one star dive would have been more to my liking on this evening. What surprised me is that when we were driving to this place, we passed a place called Porch Public House that is right down the street. I have never been there, but after looking at reviews, though a busy place is usually all you need to know, I look forward to eating there. Porch was packed, so there are plenty of people out to dinner, just not here at the golf club. This place should have been packed, but it barely had enough patrons to justify keeping the doors open. We're talking Saturday night and even the galley style bar area was all but deserted. Out of about 40 or 50 tables in the main room available when we got there, roughly 6 or 8 had guests. This place has potential, but I won't voluntarily be back any time soon. Had I not known this place had an eatery, I would never even know it is there. In my experience, if a place is good, it usually doesn't need advertising, but in this case, I recommend they do something.

Don't get too cocky on this course! The next hole will find you in a bunker or in the water. Beautifully maintained course with challenging holes and greens.

Really nice course. Course was in great shape and well maintained landscaping added to the attractiveness. My wife and I zipped around the course in a little more than 3 hours on a Monday afternoon. A refreshing relief to the slow play we usually encounter in our home town,

Avondale has some very picturesqe holes with water features. The greens and fairways were in average shape and the course has some tight holes which require accurate tee shots. All in all it was a decent course at a reasonable price.

I've played this course many, many times and it just keeps getting better. They've done a major redesign and added multiple water features (hazards) and expanded some beach area. It isn't an easy "Resort Course." In fact, it's one of the most difficult courses in the area so be prepared to be challenged and keep it straight. The greens are in very good condition as is the rest of the course. It isn't meticulous, but it isn't over $100 a round either. You can play at a discount if you schedule a tee time after 2pm on Monday.

I really wanted to rate this higher, but unless you get a deal on green fees, its a bit pricey for what you get compared to say the C'da Public course. I think this is really a 3 1/2 .The course its self is fairly short, cutting in and out of the surrounding neighborhood. You will need to play irons off several tees to set up your second shot. This course is tight, with small greens. Playing with a local would be advisable on hints where to go. The four or five times I have played this track, the greens have been very good. They have a driving range here, nice clubhouse with excellent service. Definitely worth teeing up for, but try and find a deal to save on green fees.

Just not up to par with surrounding course in the area. Love where it is located, just not my favorite. Know course improve from time to time, will try it another time.

This course was absolutley beautiful, just a perfect golf day for us. The water falls, the flowers, trees and the deer were like no other golf course we have been on before. The price was great and the staff was fun and even made us a beer cooler out of a thick plastic bag :-)

Avondale on Hayden is one of the hidden treasures of the Pacific Northwest. If you come to Couer d'Alene to play golf, Avondale Golf Course is must play.It is a semi-private course that is one of the finest in the area and open to the public. While not an exceptionally long course (6600 yds) it is a nice challege to golfers of all abilities. The conditioning of the course is top rate. The green fees are moderately priced and while there is some elevation changes, it is a walkable course. You will definitely enjoy your round.
