This is a Sundance-centric review only:I've been attending the Sundance Film Festival in Park City for the last 12 years and the Egyptian is consistently one of my favorite venues! It just doesn't feel like Sundance until I have a midnight screening here! This is a cool old theater that has that cool old theater "smell," a gorgeous exterior facade, and creaky floorboards that add to the overall ambiance. The movie screen is a good size for the space, the sound system is just right, and the seats are reasonably comfortable (the armrests are horrible, though). During the festival they sell beer, wine and liquor (!!) along with snacks (super nice after a long day of screenings and attending theaters where you can't take food or drinks inside)! The floor has a steep slant but that doesn't keep people's heads from blocking your view. Try to sit in the front row if you don't want to see heads throughout the movie.Note that the restrooms are downstairs and require climbing a quite steep flight of stairs. Don't even think about trying to park here during the festival; take the free shuttle bus if possible or be willing to shell out at least $25 to park in the garage across the street. My #1 most important tip if you are seeing a Sundance screening here is to dress in WARM LAYERS! You are required to line up in the alley at the side of the theater (which sometimes stretches out around the building and out in the elements). As such, this can get VERY COLD, even when it's not snowing. So please, dress appropriately!
Feels like the 40's with center stage, great sound and big screen. Cozy and comfortable and feels like a real "local" theatre with space for talks with film makers or musicians. Very cool
Saw the Subdudes last night, and had to write a review. Probably my 20th event at this venue, and it never disappoints. This cradle of the Sundance Film Festival brings great music, shows, and off-beat acts to Park City in a constant stream throughout the year. Randy Barton runs this place with style, grace and love, and it is very apparent why this town loves this place.
Have dinner on Main, see a great show, have a few drinks and safely take the free bus back to your condo or hotel. Not many places like Park City, UT.
They have awesome tribute bands! I saw the Beatles, Queen tribute bands. Have also seen the Kingston Trio......for real! Eery seat in the house is a good one. Small theatre with great management.
This is one of the icons on Main Street Park City. Have been there for live theatre, Sundance Film Festival, and regular movies. The venue is old, beautiful, and definitely worth a visit.
Go. The Theater is small and every seat is great. You can see some really good shows. It's worth your time and if you want a break from skiing, hiking or whatever, go.
Super fun venue for a super fun show! The Egyptian theater is an intimate venue ... all seats are amazing! Staff is great!
Had a great time at Rocky Horror Picture Show. This was a nice surprise addition to our trip. Love the historic theatre and the staff was friendly.
Went to see spamalot with a friends and laughed the entire time! Smaller theater. All seats are a good view.
Quaint old theater with history. We were there for Sundance so it was nice to have an actual theater setting (many of the films take place at venues such as H.S. auditorium, library, etc.). Small front lobby.
It was a great show and so nice to see them include the young actors from Park City. They have been doing this show every year in the fall. This theater is also where the Sundance Film Festival is held.
Can't get over the feel of the theatre .. brings me back to a time before the giant box theatre... watching a movie in there during film festival.. nothing is more authentic than this !
I'd never attended any dance production & am "thrilled" I got to see this first. The 2 acts are extremely well done. Dances are interspersed with dance-related videos. There is also excellent comic relief. Oh my goodness, WOW and whoa! A disappointment for me was that no ODT Thriller shirts were being sold. Some members of the audience wore their shirt from the 2013 show. If you live near ANY venue where Thriller is being shown & want to get in the Halloween mood, SEE this production! Oh, and, beware of wandering Zombies! The theater is a very good space. It was sold out & still felt very intimate.
This theatre located right at the top of main street is a fun little place. We went to a comedy act with some friends and it was really fun. There's not a bad seat in the house and that staff is super friendly. I can't wait for the Sundance Film Festival to see how this venue is then...
