We've made the Santa Lights Train a family tradition the past three years and it's something we always eagerly anticipate. Our only complaint is that those that pay more for the heated cars, board last. It would be great to be able to board both groups at once, since we're in different sections of the train. It's great fun, and a great way to welcome the holiday season, each year!

This was fun outing with my 69 year old mother on a sunny day! We took the mine tour as well and enjoyed the old timey train ride. This is not a big fancy steam engine train so be prepared for a narrow gauge track and a slow pace. The historical references and education were interesting and I had a good time!

I have taken the Georgetown Loop train twice. Once in the summer and once in the winter. The summer ride was just OK. You travel very slowly for about half an hour one way and then the train runs in reverse back the same way you came. Not especially scenic. Not that big of a thrill. The winter ride was excellent! We had fresh snow on the ground and in the trees. It looked like the classic winter wonderland. What a difference it makes when you add snow to the scenery! You still double back on the same tracks to the depot. My advice... Go in the winter when there is snow!

We just did the loop railroad ride with Santa and his elves. Where do I begin with how bad this train ride was? To begin with, we could not see out the windows because they were covered in frost. No one working on the train made any effort to clear them. And when we cleared them ourselves, they were frosted again after only a few minutes. Santa? Well, he was downright pathetic. He wore medical scrubs and if I didn't know any better, could have sworn he was drunk. At one point, he and 2 teenagers dressed as elves attempted to sing Jingle Bells, but both of the elves expressed their hatred of having to sing, rolled their eyes, and made no effort to make the kids happy. Despite the name "loop," this train does not loop. It travels backwards for 30 minutes, then forward on the same route. We were a party of 6, and not one of us enjoyed this train ride.

We've visited the Georgetown Loop Railroad twice now, each time with three generations from our family. And each time we've had a beautiful tour and have dealt with friendly, helpful people. We had made reservations but then were caught in an infamous summer weekend traffic snarl on the Interstate. I called the office and was allowed to change our arrival date and didn't even have to pay a transfer fee. Tips: bring your camera, some water to drink, and your sunscreen. And if you travel on a weekend during the summertime, allow PLENTY of time for arrival in case you end up caught in the I-70 "parking lot." But the Georgetown Loop Historic Railroad is well worth the time!

We love taking visitors for a ride on the Georgetown Loop Railroad. They get to experience a mountain town and riding the train is like taking a time machine to an earlier era.

We had a really great experience with our family. The staff was very friendly and we felt it was very organized. It was very festive and put us all in the Christmas spirit. We weren't expecting the gourmet cookies that another reviewer complained about, so we were therefore thankful for the treat and thought it was a nice touch. We felt that the Santa was excellent. He really took his time with us and he was very authentic! I would definitely recommend this experience. The only thing we would have done different is to spend the night before in Georgetown. We drove in from Denver, which should normally be less than an hour, and we encountered traffic due to the weather. It took us close to 2 hours which is challenging with 2 young kids. We wish we could have explored the town of Georgetown and been a little more relaxed to make it to the train. Overall though, it was a fun, memorable time.

We spent an afternoon in August riding the Georgetown Loop railroad. I have to say the "First Class" upgrade was worth it, and our kids had a fantastic time riding the train. The staff was very inviting and friendly and made sure everyone was well taken care of.

We took the night train so we could see the lights up the mountain and down again. What they don't tell you is the train creeps so slow up the mountain in the dark and doesn't go more than a mile and then stops and then backs down the mountain. You get to see lame lights and blowups that were not even close to as nice as the ones on our neighbors at home. It cost four adults almost $160.00, for maybe an hour? The guide told us that they only have lights about halfway so that is why they stop. The majority of the time, the only thing you see is darkness and pine trees. The only reason it got a star at all is because the staff were nice. Depressing!

Everyone involved with the Georgetown train ride was friendly and very personable. You hear the words "chestnuts roasting on an open fire" but rarely do you get the opportunity to experience buying a bag to eat. Hot chocolate was provided to warm you on a chilly day, but once you are on the train...it is so cozy you warm up immediately. Santa came to our train car to visit and was absolutely wonderful. He took interest in each person and brought back memories of the excitement of Christmas. The scenery was absolutely beautiful with the snow all around you. A must for everyone!

My 3 year old loved it just as the adults:) I would recommend this in mid to late September as the aspens were amazing and you can just watch the weather forecast and plan on one of those 70-80 degree blue sky days here on Colorado and get in line for the best open top train cars for best viewing! Enjoy

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We listen closely to what our guests have to say and strive to improve daily. Please know that the technical difficulties we experienced on your ride have long since been corrected. We appreciate your opinion concerning the decorations. We have found that the children really like the Holiday blow-up characters, however, as they are kid friendly and instantly recognizable. It is really amazing and heartening to ride the train and hear a the children get so incredibly excited to see Snoopy or Frosty. Since it is a Santa train with a children's focus we felt as though they are an important aspect of the display. We will definitely take into account your thoughts upon our design for next year. Thanks again and we hope you will visit us in the future to see the improvements.

Never have we been treated so well by EVERYONE at one establishment....From the time we made reservations (Coleen was very helpful) to the time we arrived to ride the SANTA TRAIN, everything went perfectly! From the Conductor, to the Elves, and on to Santa & Mrs. Claus, everyone treated our group of 10 so friendly and respectful! This was a Christmas Gift for our kids and Grandkids and we have memories to last a lifetime! The photographer took time with us and made sure each family had their own separate pictures to take home at a reasonable price! Santa Claus spent time with each one of our grandchildren and Mrs. Claus was a sweetheart! Santa's helper passed out drinks and snacks in our parlor car and their was even homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies! After the ride we all got hot chocolate and the man serving was as nice as can be! Can't say enough about this awesome Christmas Experience, will recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable holiday experience in this area! Really got us into the Christmas Spirit!

I never write reviews, however I feel compelled to do so. The Santa train was just great. It was my husband, myself, my daughter, son in law, my son and his friend (12 year olds) and my grandson (3). We all had a great time. All of the people were wonderful from Santa's helpers to Santa and Mrs. Claus. Santa was the best I have ever seen and was a genuine and kind soul.

Had lots of fun on the train - nothing to dislike! Snowed the day we were here, so we bundled up but everyone enjoyed - from the 5 year old to the 60 year old!
