eagle's nest open space

I enjoyed hiking at Eagle's Nest on a windy November morning. The northern leg of the 3 Bar trail was an easy but somewhat disappointing start - basically walking down a ranch road stepping around the cow patties. When the trail started to drop down to the river it got more interesting and the OT loop was quite nice. From most everywhere you can see the looming Eagle's Nest rock. There were a couple raptors circling high overhead but I couldn't identify them at the distance. On the walk back to the car we took the southern leg of the 3 Bar trail and it was more typical of a foothills trail. All in all an enjoyable moderate 5 mile hike.
