Every time I play this course I ask myself why it has been so long since I played it last. It is a fun course with a great layout and every time that I have played it it has been in good shape.
Nice course. Would go back. Played early evening on a Saturday night and flew around, pretty mountain views, nice condition. It's not Pinehurst, but a nice course at a relatively fair price.
Played this course on a Tuesday at 6:45 am. Finished 18 in 4 hours on the dot with three players. Challenging course for your first time. Would be much easier the second time around. Only complaint would be for the clubhouse - get a course book!! New players to this course need a cheatsheet!! There are about 6 holes that you don't need or want to hit a driver off the tee - but you don't know that because only a few holes have maps and they are not very good. Staff was great - pro shop guys and starter were fine and bartender gal at lunch was very helpful and provided great service. We will be back for sure!! Paid $50 a person with cart - guess there are better deals around but I did not find them. Talking to regular players at the course - they indicated that the course owners are in bankruptcy so there are deals on tee times to be had!!!
Deer Creek is a bit cramped for real estate but it is a fun course to play. We played in August 2013. The greens, fairways, and tee boxes were all in good shape. They've obviously put in some good work. They've been having specials (as they frequently do) and we paid only $25 each, which included a cart. When I got home I immediately ordered another foursome for $25 per player. Heck of a deal! The staff was very friendly to us, in the clubhouse and in the grill. You have to hit off mats on the driving range (lack of space to move grass tees around) so that's not much fun. There is a small chipping green, though, and the putting green is nice. It is definitely a shotmaker's course so you should plan accordingly. If you can keep the ball in the fairway you can shoot a score. Go wild and you will lose balls and pay penalty strokes. Now for my only complaint, something I see at a lot of golf courses. Deer Creek offers four different tees you can play so you have a good choice. But the problem is, they don't always put the tee markers on the correct box. This is bad for a couple reasons. Most important is that it takes away the choice of a player to select the tee boxes he wants to play. It also makes reported scores inaccurate because the yardage you play does not match the yardage you report. I finally got this changed at my home course but Deer Creek still needs to learn how to do it right. Other than that, though, we had a good time and are going to go back in a week or three.
This course is a challenging and fun course to play. The front nine is certainly more hilly with the back nine being flatter. It is fairly easy to get on this course and the green fees are reasonable and the course is in good condition this year.
Great folks that work at Dear Creek, from the restaurant personnel to the the pro shop. Very friendly and helpful. Chaney one of the pros at the course helped my wife and I immensely with our game. The food is great with a nice menu and very nicely prepared
We stayed at the Hampton Inn and caught a view of well-manicured greens and fairways from our third story room window, so we decided to play. Deer Creek is a beautifully maintained links style golf course with great views and a creative layout. No two holes are the same. The front nine fairways are tight, and both front and back nines feature natural areas to carry with your tee shots on several holes. But it's all fair in that good shots are rewarded. Course personnel all were friendly and professional and the clubhouse is clean and classy with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating for nineteenth hole sandwiches and drinks.
Very impressed with the course conditions, the greens are in maybe the best shape ever, fairways are also as good as it gets. Very nice afternoon of golf and the prices are also quite nice
There was one person at the desk? No starter, no marshals, no cart girl and no water on the 16th hole. This is a decent course but not managed for crap. Its cheap but you get what you pay for.Its right down the street from the Homewood Suites which is convenient.
Definitely not a favorite of mine. It's a difficult course and the service is extremely lacking on the course but the service in the clubhouse is good. The juice is simply not worth the squeeze.
It was close to my hotel and they were very friendly. Nice views, somewhat challenging. I would play there again.
