Please accept our sincere apology for your experience. We do our best to welcome all of the visitors to our studio and to provide a fascinating, safe and positive experience. We usually manage to do this even on the most hectic of summer days. Sometimes it's difficult for the artists to juggle multiple visitors while in the midst of working with 2000-degree molten glass. Again, we apologize that you didn't feel welcome and that you were unable to see the demo. We appreciate your feedback and will certainly strive to improve. If you are in the area again, please stop in and introduce yourselves -- we'll do our best to make it up to you. - Kate & John Hudnut, owners of GatherHouse

Gathering refers to pulling molten glass from the furnace and beginning the fascinating process of turning it into something beautiful and useful. John has made the practice of glass blowing a performance art, and if you're willing to take a class, you can participate. We have watched many times and purchased some of his beautiful creations. Open demonstrations are listed in the local Summit Daily News.

Found this place on Trip Advisor and were very glad we did. It happened to be a Tuesday so we enjoyed watching another couple taking a glass blowing lesson. John invited us to come closer and explained what was going on. Afterward we purchased a beautiful vase which he then signed. Support this local man, you will be glad you did. His work is lovely!

So much talent in a little shop. The owner, John, is very nice and willing to share his know-how. He is a wonderful artist and the pieces in the shop are quite beautiful. I picked out one of his hand-blown glass pendants to take home and work into one of my necklace creations. He invited us back at 2:00 to "bust out" a few more pendants of my design, but we were unable to stay in Frisco until then.

Glassblowing is such an amazing art form, how they can start with this lump of molten glass and spin and blow it into so many things

My mother and I took our first Glassblowing class last night after attending a short but enticing demonstration several days before. You can immediately tell from from the demonstration that Glassblowing is truly an involved and intense art form. The owner, John Hudnut, is passionate, obviously very accomplished in the art and is an engaging teacher getting everybody involved while seamlessly creating a piece, which is a little scary with all the furnaces firing away making it more exciting! The individual class was an fabulous experience of creating an age old art form, excellent and personable instruction and teamwork. John and Todd (assistant) made sure we were safe and most importantly and a fun learning experience.

We happened to be in Frisco at the right time on the right day to watch a glass blowing presentation. I think the door said it happens after 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Thursday & Sundays (but I'm not 100% sure). It was neat to watch & he did have two young 'assistants' helping him in the process. IMO he was a little harsh/rude but I assume when you're working with something so hot you have to be direct. The store front has some items you can purchase. I'm not sure what I expected but everything was WAY more expensive than I would have ever thought so we didn't actually buy anything. It's definitely worth the stop if you're in the are & have an hour or so to kill.

I had no idea I would get to participate in one of my favorite things while on a trip to Colorado-glass art! We got to watch and participate in making a glass tumbler. I've been to see the glass blowers in Murano, Italy but was never able to get up so close and personal with the artists or participate in the process. This was a really unique and fun experience. John and his assistant are very friendly and welcoming. They seem truly excited to share their art with visitors and they make some lovely things. The great thing is that you can buy a really nice piece of art and take it home knowing that you had a hand in making it. I would love to come back some time to take one of his classes.

My third time to visit Gatherhouse and have a class with John Hudnut was just as fascinating as the first two visits. Again I designed and helped create a piece of glass art, this year, a vase. John's easy manner and passion for glass make for a great experience. Next visit to Frisco, I will be back!

We visited on our last day of our Frisco experience. John Hudnut gave us a tour and explained each step in the glass blowing experience. We enjoyed learning about this beautifully amazing artistic expression of glasses, vases, and glass blown pieces of dolphins and starfish and the amazing Chihuly like chandelier over the counter as you enter. We appreciated the hospitality and kindness. My son was excited to assist John in signing a beautiful piece. We will continue to return for creative inspiration through glass blown masterpieces.

The artist here does excellent work with glass. The demonstrations he provided were both interesting and informative. We really enjoyed watching.

This process is absolutely amazing. Watching the dance of so many people working in sync with each other, as they create an object of beauty, is incredible. John is a fantastic host and thoroughly enjoys his work. Will definitely stop in again the next time we're in town.
