We visited this State Park last fall. It is just 10 min ride from a friend's pace in Aurora. The fall colors were still there. Unfortunately, I do not have a boat. Otherwise the fund would have been just much more. It is still a great place to unwind, have picnics without spending a lot of time to just drive to that place.

On a recent trip to Cherry Creek State Park I had the privilege of seeing and photographing Bald Eagles. Two eagles were together at the edge of the reservoir and I was able to capture one of them fishing and eating his catch. My one criticism is that the entrance booths are not always staffed by park rangers and if they are not visitors need to leave cash or a check for the entrance fee. I have a year pass to the Colorado State Park system so it is not necessary for me to stop but first time visitors may not be aware of this or may not have the cash or check.Other animals that I saw on my visit were a coyote, ducks, geese, prairie dogs and many hawks.

This is an oasis in the middle of the city. All kinds of walks, a huge resevoir, great campground. There are picnic tables all around the lake, a beach and lots of walking and biking paths. Very crowded beach in the summer though.

Enjoy being able to shoot shot guns, hand guns and rifles all at the same location. Staff is helpful teaching kids gun safety. Helpful staff if gun gets jammed.

This gorgeous park has something for everyone in the family. Easy to get to, great hiking, nice long walks, the gorgeous water offers all kinds of water activities and the wild life is prolific.

Nice outdoor area for a walk around a very, very small reservoir.May need to pay at entrance if the Park Ranger is there. Or, walk in at no charge.

Right in my backyard is this fabulous state park that many feel is too close to home to enjoy, but is a virtual oasis in the metropolitan area! Not only can one enjoy the natural beauty of the lake and land, but it has one of the best campgrounds around, bike trails galore, fishing and boating as well as a swim beach! If you haven't been here yet, make a point to visit.

Great walking trails, good kayaking/boating, nice picnic areas. Park is very popular with cyclists so sometimes it's difficult to navigate by automobile. Occasional wildlife sightings, but that's getting less common with the increase in use. Fun to walk there in the winter when it isn't crowded. Can be difficult to get in during busy summer week-ends. Nice RV and tent camping sites, reasonably priced. Swim beach always crowded on week-ends in the summer. Overall, a very nice state park in the city.

I grew up next to Cherry Creek State Park. The park is in the middle of the city. Venturing into Cherry Creek makes it possible for someone to experience wildlife in the middle of the city. The hike around the entire Cherry Creek reservoir is over 10 miles in length. I would suggest hiking through the wetlands area. I consistently see deer and other wildlife in this part of the park.

This park is wildly beautiful each and every season. Great hiking spot in the spring and fall. Many deer on the trails. Winter is more tranquil but still great hiking. Summer oh summer! Great boating or jet skiing spot! The Cherry Creek Yacht Club even offers sailboat lessons on the weekends!

This is beautiful reservoir and is surrounded by hiking/biking paths through a large wildland/wetland preserve. A shout-out to Victoria Sailing School, where else would you go to learn sailing other than Colorado?

Convenient for Aurora, CO. Accommodates most boats including sail. Shallow though ave depth about 30 ft. Very very busy during summer with skiing and PWC keeping the water very choppy.Has RC plane park, stables and shooting range. Wildlife watching, fishing, picnicking. $10 a year for watercraft and $10 a day for entrance fee. Our third choice for fishing.

Although surrounded on all sides by the hustle and bustle of city life, Cherry Creek State Park is an urban oasis where you can get away from it all and feel like you're miles from civilization. Just be aware that other than a beautiful lake and nice distant views of the Rockies, it is pretty desolate here so don't expect much in the way of nature viewing.

it is the only beach in Aurora and a good place for water sports. They have camping but get there really early as they fill fast. Gets crowded on weekends and there is a line of cars waiting to get in. Nice hiking trails.

Enjoy taking our family to this little gem of a park. Fishing, boating, bike riding, hiking, shooting sports, etc. Pretty much everything you might want to do close to town, while feeling much more rustic.
