We came here to celebrate December break and New Year's Eve. It was our first visit. The property and the views are beautiful. However, the service has been subpar at best. From the moment we checked in, we were uninformed and misinformed regarding the New Year's Eve dinner we reserved as well as the surrounding attractions. We were advised by staff that there was no horseback riding nearby- there is - at Circle B Ranch 20 min away. (We had a great time there). Our room was not cleaned for two days (we were given no explanation, just an apology). The roll away beds, sheets and towels are stored outside. The spiders apparently came into the room for the winter. The batteries in the outer door to our room were dead for our three night stay, resulting in us having to call and wait for the engineer each night to let us in our room... In sub zero freezing temps ... With children and their grandmother (who fell down the stairs to our room the first night - thankfully no hospital visit). The New Year's Eve buffet was nice but pricey ($75 per adult) however the service was non-existent- yet 20% was automatically included in the bill. The activities and the rec center for the kids was disappointing too. Although the location is beautiful - the service is horrible and honestly not worth our money. Woodloch Pines in PA isn't as "high end", however the service is much better and there is much more for the kids to do in the off- season. Our kids prefer to go there next time. Disappointed. :(

The owners are not interested in golf and do not see this facility as an important part of the resort. Hence, they do not provide adequate funds to properly staff and maintain the course. However, do not pass up a chance to play especially in the fall.

Upstate New York gem for sure! Great location, astonishing views and a place well kept. For pros and amatours!

Course was great and in good shape. Played behind foursome who were hitting 6 and 7 balls esch off the tee. The course was backed up because of this group and not one ranger or employee was on the course to police it. Had to skip past them to finish. I cant imagine how slow the play is in peak season.

Every hole is different, challenging but fair. Considering that this course was designed over 100 years ago it has stood the test of time. The view from the first hole is spectacular and one of the best in golf. I was there this time after a rain so the fairway roll was limited but when the course dries out the first hole with just a minimal drive will allow almost 400 yards. It is sharply downhill and the fairway is wide. It is a shotmakers course and rewards risk but punishes mistakes. I have played it many times and even skied on the first hole. I have never seen it in better shape. The Adirondack growing season is short so it is difficult to maintain the course but the superintendent has performed a miracle. My only drawback is that some holes drain poorly especially #18 and there are two blind holes that are dangerous if the bell is not rung. (Some novices and rude guests forget to ring the bells leading to dangerous situations.) I would go so far as saying that this is a destination golf course.

The title says it all. A great course. If you golf you must play this course. The view from the first tee is lovely. The chaps in the Pro shop are great.

The hotel is very beautiful with lovely views. I will revisit Lake George, but I doubt I'll stay at the Sagamore due to its high cost.

A beautiful old course up in the hills above Lake George. Friendly staff, the course is well maintained - due partly to the 'cart paths only' regulations. Challenging, yet fair. We were a threesome ranging in age from 11 to 79.......and it was thoroughly enjoyable for all of us. We 'donated' more than our fair share of balls to the woods and the water.........clearly a course that requires some decent accuracy throughout. Can't wait to visit again !

Could REALLY use locker room updating and ladies items in pro shop. Carts, also could use updating as far as sand replacement box or cooler or trash can.

Only had time for 9 holes but beautiful course. We got rained out the day we were to play 18. The pro shop was very accomodating.

This golf course as many in the area suffered some winter kill. Several greens are like putting on a dirt road, bumpy and not consistent. Other area courses have gotten their greens in shape but the sagamore seems more interested in repaving cart paths. The fairways are overwatered making for a lot of plugged Tee shots. If you're new to the course many blind shots with no warning of yardage. They don't give out yardage books. Beverages....bring a bank roll. The greens are battered with ball marks and fairways divots everywhere. No fill mix in the carts, usually filled with water from washing the carts?? No Marshall so if you like slow play and chaos this is the place for you. I think Donald Ross would rollover in his grave to see such a great course run like this. Obviously maintenance must be on a very tight budget here, it shows.

It was late afternoon and we were shopping in Bolton Landing when a group of us decided to walk over to the Sagamore Resort and have a cocktail. We sat outside at the bar which overlooked the boats and boardwalk. The waitress was very friendly and since there were not many guests at the bar, we had the first deck overlooking the beach below all to ourselves. We enjoyed a few rounds of Frozen drinks which were very good then took a stroll along the water. I would love to stay at this resort in the future.

Classic mountain course. Tight fairways. Lots of changes in elevation. Greens are a bit slow but otherwise in good condition

This year our annual family vacation was a trip to the Sagamore Resort at Lake George. I have to agree with most of the reviews, the landscape, curb appeal, exterior is just beautiful and worth at least one visit in your life time. The resort has a wonderful REC center for the kids! We went with 2 other families and trust me, it was a life saver for 7 kids! We stayed at one of the walk-in lodges, equipped with a mini kitchen, came in handy making lunch for 7 kids and 5 adults. Plus our package came with breakfast at La Bella and it had enough variety to satisfy all cravings. Also, the resort is a tiny bridge away from the town where there are more options! We had a great dinner at Fredericks! Lobster feast and bucket of hot wings! The only dining we experienced at the Sagamore Resort was at Mr. Brown's Pub - it was kind of hard to seat 7 kids together and not disturb other guests. We get that 'hesitation' look from the staff when we walk near the host/hostess area. The outdoor pool is nice, just wish people would stop hogging chairs with towels and books, and never show up to use them! We made the best use of 1 chair for 3 families! For families with young children, the kids club is great - my only concern was that the counselors were not trained to handle children with autism. My younger boy wanted to do arts & crafts but he needed some guidance; just felt the counselors didn't do a great job in engaging the kids. Other than that, it was a good trip.

My husband and I enjoyed a beautiful day on the links on 7/10. Can't say the performance was as good as the scenery. :)The course is lovely but the greens were very different from what we are accustomed to playing in GA. Sounds like the exceptionally long cold winter was troublesome for them. The pro shop staff, particularly Paco were friendly and helpful although we were somewhat annoyed by the constant presence of the maintenance crew on the front 9. As a female golfer who has only played regularly for the last 2 1/2 years I found the par 4's to be particularly long and challenging. We enjoyed enough that we returned the next day to play another 9. It was a bit pricey to play there, but we were on vacation. We would certainly recommend.
