The beach has soft sand and a beautiful view. There are great waves and you can find shells, colorful rocks, and driftwood.
We had many great beach days during out stay on Block Island. My son loved hunting for crabs and my daughter lover the huge waves. The weather was perfect in late August. Not too hot with amazing breeze. This was our first trip to RI and we will be back.
My husband and I first visited Mansion Beach in June 2014 and again in September. We absolutely love this beach. It's about a 15-20 minute bike ride from Water Street and well worth the trip. The water and beach are so clean and it doesn't seem to get as crowded as Scotch Beach. In the summer when you walk down the path, it's lined with some type of rose and it smells amazing. There aren't any bathrooms or garbage cans and you can't take a moped down to the parking area, only cars or bicycles.
We biked here, and it was well worth the workout. Very quiet, not crowed gorgeous beach. Water and beach were so clean. We enjoyed a few hours soaking in the Rhode Island Sun. Def a must see on your visit.
Beautiful quiet beach, out of the mainstream for beach goers on Block Island. There is nothing not to like. Just remember there are no facilities there.
It's a very pretty beach, a bit off the beaten path (read here:town beach) it's kind of a haul to egg from the parking area to the beach itself if you have gear. Once you arrive the beach is wide, clean and filled with swarms of small children building cairns of beach rocks. Worth the schlep? ,aye of your kids like building stuff :)
This is a great beach for kids - a little crowded but very pretty. We found the next beach up off of Cable way to be less crowded.
Soft sand, clean and clear water. Less crowded than other beaches. No amenities. Trash in and trash out. Well worth it. My favorite.
What an amazing beach! When I asked at the Inn we were staying in what the "can't miss" beach was since we only had one afternoon to go, the three people I asked said Mansion Beach. So off we went. The only drawback for my husband and me was that the beach road did not allow mopeds, so we parked it at the end of the road and walked ~.5 mile to the beach. We only had one beach bag with us so it really wasn't a big deal, and totally worth it! The sand was soft and deep. The waves were fun to play in, and there was plenty of room to spread out. We went on a recent beautiful Tuesday afternoon.
Mansion Beach is the northernmost section of the beach that begins near the Surf Hotel in Old Harbor called Crescent Beach. There is a dirt parking area down a dirt road (Mansion Road) that is not friendly to cars. There are no facilities. Some of the people staying in the area think of it as their private beach, not withstanding the fact that all beaches in Rhode Island are public. There's no compelling reason to choose this beach over other more convenient or more spectacular ones on the island.
Soft sand, clear water, great swimming. At the end of a 1/2 mile dirt road, you are better off biking as car parking can be insane. No mopeds allowed on this road. Bring a lunch and stay all day (but please take your garbage with you!)
Love it!! The beach is long, the water clean, the waves perfect! There should be garbage cans somewhere, though, just like at Mohegan Bluffs, because even though everyone is there to enjoy the outdoors, some people just defile it.
I think this is the best beach on the island but be aware there are no facilities here or life guards. There is parking but on a nice day it can be packed.
Best beach on Block Island no doubt very clean water very clear amazing place to hang out with friends, bring a volleyball. ...!.!!!!!
This beach was unusual for us because of the beautiful small rocks that had been smoothed by the ocean. I found different colors of granite and quartz. It was hard to resist collecting one of each color. The beach is very beautiful here too.
