My wife and I visited Yuko-En for a peaceful stroll and were pleasantly surprised at how well-maintained the place is. It is a peaceful place with a meandering pebble trail around the park. It is right on the Elkhorn Creek and this adds to the beauty of the place.
My husband brought me to this garden before we moved to Georgetown. While it had the potential to be very beautiful, it was very run down. One of the waterfalls was an algae waterfall, it was disgusting. I did enjoy seeing the Japanese style gardens and buildings, just wish that upkeep was better. Probably won't be back.
This is a great place to get photos done. Family pics, engagement pics, weddings you name it. Relaxing place to stroll through and see. Occasionally they will have an event - like the kite festival.
A gift from Japan to the city of Georgetown, this ZEN style garden is a photographer's treasure. EZ gravel paths that meander around ponds, medication gardens and a gazebo offer many opportunities to capture landscape textures. And the entry fee is zilch, nada, no charge. Best ever!
great place to take kids or family pictures or just walk around and enjoy the peace and quiet. also a building to rent now for receptions etc.
Love this place! It's a little hidden treasure in Georgetown, KY. Beautiful and quiet. They have benches set up around the property where you can relax among beautiful scenery.
While Yuko-en on the Elkhorn isn't very big, it is a beautiful place. This would be a nice place to stop and picnic. Only takes at the most about 30 minutes to see everything but it's definitely worth a stop.
First, this Japanese style garden is located in Georgetown, Kentucky, not Georgetown, South Carolina, as indicated by TripAdvisor. The physical address is 700 Cincinnati Pike (US 25 N), Georgetown, Kentucky 40324. The garden resembles a Japanese garden in its layout, but the plants are primarily those native to Kentucky or introduced from other parts of the United States. The garden offers a quiet walk through a beautiful garden with brooks and a waterfall. Unfortunately, the garden shows signs of neglect. Markers are missing or damaged, and many shrubs need trimming and general maintenance. A self-guided tour brochure is usually available, although on the day I visited the garden, there were no brochures in the rack. The garden is open dawn to dusk 365 days a year. Free.
