They have the best steaks ever!! Friday night steak night - 2 NY Strip steak dinners for $22.00 - and they are delicious!! Listening to the locals sing karaoke with Donnie is absolutely the best time. Been visiting for 5 years on the annual girls weekend in the fall. Good food, good fun and friendly people! Oh, and the chance to win 10 lbs of bacon, a pork shoulder, a turkey and who knows what else!! Jim, Bertha and their 'kids' are just the best!

We took the scenic trip to the troubadour on our way up. There is a direct way into Berkeley Springs, but we were glad we took the more out of the way path! It was a beautiful summer evening. Most weekends in the summer they have live music Fri-Sun, but due to the 4th of July, we missed this - we visited Sun. July 8. This is a basic bar. LOTS of memorabilia, good drinks and good bar food. Both of us ate dinner (burgers and fries) for $13! Drinks are plentiful, but we could not really drink, thinking about the drive home. Get a designated driver and enjoy this place. The folks here are kind and welcoming, it is open on Sunday evening (something very welcome in Berkely Springs!) and it ROCKS!

We are the V6 Band from the Washington DC area and we absolutely love playing at the Troubadour. We are there at least 3 times a year and always look forward to a great time. Jim and his wife Bertha are the real deals and always welcome us with open arms. The food is great, especially on Friday night steak night and who knows, you may just win yourself some bacon or ham with the frequent raffles.Last year we were there to help celebrate Jim's 80th birthday and actually got him up on stage to sing and play a couple of tunes with us. We are headed up again April 16, 2011 so if your anywhere nearby, please come up and enjoy it.. The most awesome place there is.Scott MartinGaithersburg, Md

We stopped at the Troubadour last weekend. I felt pretty stupid for not having been there previouisly. We've been going to Berkeley Springs, off and on, for about 10 years and had never heard of it. It's a great place and a great time. On Firday night, they had a great local rock/rockabilly band that played indoors. We went back the next night and they had another great rock band (Weber Brothers) that played at the outdoor stage. Both venues were great. We also got a personal tour of the place on Friday night from Jim McCoy, the owner and country western legend. He's a real class act and very hospitable. The Troubadour is a honky tonk bar with an outstanding outdoor venue. It's probably the best bar I've ever been too. I'm hoping to return for Labor Day weekend, despite the fact that it's about a 2 1/2 drive for me. If you get the chance to visit the Troubadour, make sure you get directions. It's about 6-7 miles off of Route 522 and you have to drive over a lot of country roads that aren't well marked. We got lost the first night. I highly recommend it for anyone who's going to be in the Berkeley Springs area.

If you're looking for ferns and a piano bar, look elsewhere hon! This is the real thing, a real roadhouse with real music. Christmas lights are on year-round inside and out. Walls are plastered with many of Jim McCoy's friends and musicians. Walk into the poolroom which doubles as the West Virginia Country Music Hall of Fame, and includes a Robert Byrd tribute corner (Li'l Bobby Byrd was quite a fiddle player back in the day, and played often in Berkeley Springs!). Jim McCoy's band was Patsy Cline's first backup bands way back in the day. Every Labor Day weekend is Patsy Cline weekend, and people come from all over for the Patsy Cline look-a-like and karaoke contests, as well as a day-long concert witih bands playing tribute to Patsy. Drinks are cheap and the service is very friendly. Saturday nights are live music, country rock at its best and everybody dances so dont be shy! Featured on Saturday nights is a raffle for TEN POUNDS OF BACON! You could be the lucky winner. Friday nights are karaoke and steak. So don't wait! Grab a partner, and/or a designated driver and come on down! Be sure to introduce yourself to Jim McCoy and his lovely wife Bertha, and they'll treat you like old friends. Just make sure you get directions. It's rumored that there are a few hillbillies somewhere that started home late on Saturday night, only to get lost in the twists and turns.

GROOMANDBRIDE

I cannot give this bar/restaurant/nightclub enough thumbs up. I just returned from visiting Berkeley Springs with a group of 21 girlfriends and we visited the Troubadour to enjoy live music. Coming from the Washington metro area, this was a REAL TREAT for us. I dont think we have had a good time like that in years! Jim McCoy, the owner was SOOO friendly, nice, accomodating and entertaining. The prices are AMAZING (1.50 for beer and mixed drinks), great bar food (corn dogs, shrimp baskets, chicken tenders.) The experience we had was straight out of a movie!! The band allowed my friend to play the drums, another friend sang a few songs, and everyone danced their hearts out with complete strangers! Do yourself a favor---visit the Troubadour ---------. I cannot wait to visit again!
