We opted for the Cajun tour from the recommendations from Trip Advisor, and we were glad we did. Shaun our guide, who runs the tour with his father was brilliant. This is not the all singing and dancing tour , being sensationalised for the tourist. This is educational. We did get to see alligators, turtles, snakes and the local birds, and Shaun's knowledge and manner and his obvious love for the area all shone through.Although his jokes are pretty bad! Thoroughly enjoyed the morning and well worth the money.

5 of us took this tour on Thanksgiving day and we were NOT disappointed: the guide was knowledgeable and fun. French speakers could take that tour anytime, our guide could speak cajun French without pretense. Scenery and light were wonderful. Only saw one alligator, but that is OK, there was much more to see and enjoy! Would recommend anytime! Also a great deal!

I had read previous reviews and decided to try out Cajun Country Swamp Tours. I called to see if there would a tour available the afternoon that we would be in Lafayette. Fortunately we were able to arrive just in time for the last tour leaving at 3:00pm. It was such a wonderful experience with Shawn, our knowledgeable and environmentally conscious tour guide. How refreshing to have someone who values the native habitat of the bayous and is willing to share his expertise in a humorous manner that teaches us of its importance. Such stunning views we witnessed, especially the changing colors of an approaching sunset! Thank you for making this the best part of our vacation!!

This tour was amazing. The drive in beautiful in itself with plenty of places to stop off to take pictures so go early or have time at he end to do that. Shawn knew so much about the area and nature, even when we didnt see much he was able to point out things and talk about things I didnt even think could be a conversation. The swamp is beautiful and peaceful! February is cooler so while we didnt see many animals, it was still one of the best experiences you can do. Shawn has great humor and makes this tour anything but boring while at the same time letting you bask in the peace and beauty of the swamp.

I had a fantastic time on this swamp tour! Lake Martin is beautiful, and Shawn knew an impressive amount about the area and everything we saw on the lake. He was funny and really made the drive from Baton Rouge worth it. Don't miss their tour!

Knowledgeable guide took us on a 2 hour boat tour. I was surprised at how beautiful the swamp was. We saw MANY alligators and birds. Nice that this tour is very eco conscious.

Took Cajun Country Swamp Tour at Lake Martin. Beautiful view. Peaceful place. Easy to find. They accommodated me at the last minute and even helped me when I got lost on the way (my fault, not their's)

This tour was perfect! Our teens loved it. We saw way more than gators. We took a morning tour. It was so peaceful and beautiful. Our guide was awesome. He was professional and informative yet not boring. If your looking for a tour that is more NatGeo and less reality t.v. this is it.

Joni Mitchell said "They paved paradise and put up a parking lot." Butch says there is no way he is going to contribute to something like that. He likes the swamp the way it is; the way it's been for most of the 60 plus years he's been there. He and Shawn haven't even put up a permanent sign at the meeting place, but they'll have a banner up the day of your trip.As great as it was at 39 degrees in a light breeze of mid January, I can't imagine how excited we would have been on a spring, summer or fall trip. Bring your questions, your binoculars and money for the fee and a tip, and you'll want to tip. You'd feel guilty paying so little for a bad trip, let alone this one. And make it cash. They don't accept American Express . . .or Visa . . . or anything else plastic as Joni Mitchell could have said.

Best 20 bucks spent with caring people of this area. We had Shawn, sat in rear of the boat and could hear his pride shine

We drove all the way from south Texas and we only had one complete day to spend in Louisiana. Yes, it had been cold, and the weather was not the best, but...We called SEVERAL places throughout the day trying to book a swamp tour for the two of us. We were declined by several places because we were the only two who had called for a tour that day, and they wanted a minimum of FOUR. I even offered to pay one guy for three spots, but he declined. One said it was too foggy. And yet another was just flat out rude. A waitress at the Boiling Spot (EXCELLENT food) gave us the number for Cajun Country Swamp Tours. We called, booked a trip and off we went. It was an EXCELLENT experience. Beautiful. The guide was very informative and knowledgable. We took the last trip of the day on January 2nd and sat in the very back. AWESOME EXPERIENCE. And if you read this review, Mr. Tour guide... Take care of "Tat"!

It was 46 degrees, so too cold for the alligators to come out from hiding. So we didn't see any. Our guide was knowledgable but barely talked and spoke in a very quiet voice. He never even introduced himself so I don't know his name. He answered questions when we asked and he pointed out birds, but there wasn't much explanation of the swamp itself or history or anything else I expected from a tour. It was more a swamp ride than tour. Having said that, the swamp is amazing and he took us deep into it. Well worth the money. We didn't see alligators but we saw lots of birds, including a bald eagle and two owls. A very nice trip for bird people. Definitely a unique experience I would recommend to others.

Butch was the nicest man. He really went out of his way for our family. I previously thought a swamp tour might be somewhat 'cheesy', but not the case. It was the most beautiful, authentic, informative, memorable experience. I have highly recommended it to everyone I know. I am just still kicking myself for forgetting the camera!

My husband and I made a reservation for a 1 pm. tour with Cajun Swamp Tours early October 2014. The response to our email was quick. Payment was to be made after the tour to the guide. We had no trouble finding the landing in Breaux Bridge. We arrived half an hour before the departure and met up with the rest of the people on the tour. The boat was rather flat, and had swivel chairs in it.Our guide Butch is a local man, who cares a lot about the swamp and it's inhabitants, and is very knowledgable about it. He also has a dry sense of humour.Butch pointed out alligators, herons, snakebirds, turtles and giant spiders, and navigated the boat as close to them as possible, so that everybody could take good pictures. The tour takes about 2 hours and is mostly on open water and sometimes under the shade of trees, so make sure that you apply lots of sunscreen, and take a bottle of water with you. There is no shop at the landing itself, only in the village of Breaux Bridge (+/-1,5 km/1 mile from the landing)There are some porta -toilets at the landing. We had a really great tour, and if we return to this area, we will certainly book with Cajun Country Swamp Tours again !
