Yet another excellent state park, this one has lots of walking trails to see the many different types of animals and birds of the area. Beautiful area, recommended!

To be fair I want to provide this update to my original Two Star July 10 “Lake Fausse Pointe Campground, Louisiana” review part of which follows. While I did not stay at the campground on this trip, I did take time to swing by the park and inspect the comfort stations. I found them to be much improved and very clean.The follow is my original info with new comments in parenthesis:“There are spider webs in every corner from top to bottom including gaps between the shower and toilet walls (very clean). The walls have dirt on them and dried fluid flow on them (very clean). The sinks are reasonable clean (spotless) but the soap dispensers are always empty (all were broken and need to be replaced). Many of the overhead lights are out (some are still out). Items left in shower area, clothes, soap, shoes, etc. are left where they sit (showers were completely picked up).” What I saw was a real effort by the staff to improve the cleanliness of the facility. It is also evident is a lack of sufficient funding by the state for upkeep and improving the overall park facilities. With the hard times created by recent Hurricanes I can understand there have been more pressing problems. If you visit Lake Fausse Pointe Campground I encourage you to give them an honest appraisal of how they are doing. I think my review and copy to the Director of LA State Parks resulted in a positive impact in this situation and the staff should be proud of their performance. Hopefully, they will get sufficient funding to improve the whole park over time. I congratulate the staff for a very positive effort. I definitely will stay here in the future.I also notice that each fire ring at a site not in use had been cleared of old ashes and the ring and grill cleaned and lifted.I am upgrading my review to Three Stars and they could make Four Stars easily with a little additional physical improvement to the site.

My husband and I spent the day at Lake Fausse Pointe State Park in February of 2014. We hiked around the park and enjoyed seeing the wildlife. There are also cabins and camp sites with pier fishing or boat fishing. The park was well kept. It looked like a nice place to spend the weekend or even longer.

... Ou presque si nous comptons les alligators, hérons et écureuils qui étaient nos voisins!Nous avons séjourné deux nuits dans une "cabin" située sur les bayous. Vous ne trouverez pas plus calme comme endroit.Notre arrivée fut mouvementée, la cabin n'était pas prête (encore les draps et serviettes des anciens locataires) et l'hôtesse d'accueil nous a très mal reçu en nous faisant comprendre qu'elle n'avait pas envie de faire d'effort pour nous comprendre avec notre petit accent français. Finalement, nous avons fait affaire avec les "rangers/policiers" du park qui, après avoir constatés notre problème, nous ont immédiatement changé de cabin.La cabin est tout confort et la vue sur les bayous est magnifique! Si vous avez un peu de chance, vous trouverez un alligator devant votre ponton!C'est un très bel endroit pour dormir. La journée, mis à part de la randonnée (attention aux moustiques!) et du canoë, il n'y a rien à faire... Dommage qu'ils ne louent pas de vélo!De ce fait, je conseille de ne pas dépasser deux nuits ici.Attention également, il n'y a aucun épicerie dans le state park et le premier restaurant est à au moins 30 min en voiture. Pensez donc à faire vos courses avant d'arriver à votre cabin.Malgré cette mésaventure à l'arrivée , je conseille vivement d'y faire un tour!
