The idea is wonderful for runners bikers and yes dogs, but on short leash only (understandable). We came in just outside of the Berkshire mall entrance and wanted nice view of water and to walk dogs with out a long terribly long walk.. We didn't make it to any small lake but what we did see what beautiful landscape Is there and foliage, and the path is perfect! Just wish we found the other entrance..will try again

This trail is a nice ride, very flat, shrouded in trees changing color, and even quiet on the North end. We rented bikes from Berkshire Outfitters at the south end of Adams, and the trail was a very short ride from the rental shop. Bikes were in excellent condition, and they have a 3 your rate for a mere $25. The lakes to the south end were scenic, and trail uncrowded on our Friday ride.

This paved trail through 11 miles of wooded area is a great find -- wonderful for walking, biking, skating, or jogging. My spouse and I discovered it on a day when it was too slippery from recent rain to go hiking in nearby mountain areas. The fact that the trail is flat and paved made it perfect for easy walking. There are even benches here and there for resting. And lots of fall colors!

Loved this trail! We biked it three days in a row. Ten miles each way and mainly flat. Scenic as it runs along the lake when going north. If you start at the southern end there is a gradual uphill for 4 miles. Bathrooms at both ends.

Great for biking and walking, not to steep of incline, very good for any skill or activity level. Awesome views

This segment of 11 miles runs from Pittsfield to North Adams MA. A portion of it runs along a busy road, mostly obscured, but you can hear the traffic. Soon it veers away, running along a beautiful reservoir and through forested property. It runs fairly flat and has plenty of places to pull aside; there are plenty of benches as well as a place to get fresh ice cream. At one end there is a very spiffy Chamber of Commerce office. The staff was very knowledgeable of events, businesses and other interesting facts about the area. The shelves had plenty of information and pamphlets for local interests and happenings. The trail is well utilized by bikers, walkers, rollerbladers. The hard paved surface is in good condition with a few raised root bumps, but not many, and most are marked with a spray paint.

We biked just for a little under an hour on this trail. Very scenic and quiet. Well maintained, and very smooth. Especially great for individuals starting out on biking.

We have biked many rail trail but few compare to this one for natural beauty. There is good parking at either end a swell as rest rooms. The trail is still in good condition.

You can begin the trail in Adams or Lanesborough or at various parking areas along the way. We begin the trail in Lanesborough at the access parking area right where you turn into the Berkshire mall off route 8. The round trip is about 22 miles. It is very flat except as you approach the last couple of miles near Adams where there is a nice downhill and a mild climb on the return. There is a bathroom at the start in Lanesborough and a visitor center at the end in Adams that is open from 9 to 6 everyday. The visitor center has bathrooms and brochures. There is a restaurant/bar on the right before the visitor center where you can sit inside or out. There is also an ice cream place about six miles into the ride. There are a number of roads to cross over but most are very little traveled. The busiest road has a crossing light. It is a scenic ride with lake and river views. There are lots of benches along the way but only a few of them have an open view of the water. There are walkers, skaters, and bikers using the trail but it typically doesn't get too busy. If you are driving up from the mass pike, the last part of the drive is pretty ugly so you might start wondering how nice the trail could be, but you will be pleasantly surprised.

11 1/2 mile mostly flat trail past a reservoir from edge of Pittsfield to Adams. lots of birds, some wildlife

This is a great paved trail along an old railway for seeing some beautiful lakes, marsh land and wildlife. And hey, something free to do is always welcome on a trip! I advise starting the trip at the second parking lot after the Berkshire Mall at Farnam's Crossing... then you can walk along a lake for more than a mile.

This wonderful paved trail runs along Route 8 in the Berkshires in northwestern Massachusetts. Beautiful lakes and.mountains to see. Goes through or near Pittsfield, Cheshire and Adams. There are different access points and benches along the way. Good for biking and walking.

Flat trail for 11 miles. Nice views throughout - a good portion of the trail is along themlakes. Lots of walkers, bikers, rollerblade, etc. multiple places along the trail to park your car and pick up the trail from there.

Finally - a place to just walk and walk and walk! Super trail and beautiful setting - my wife and I walked nearly 7 miles total and it was refreshing and a healthy thing to do - we are walkers and had never really tried a rail trail and we will certainly seek-out others!

This is a rail trail like many others here in New England, but the scenery is nicer than many. We parked at an access point near Pittsfield, and within minutes of riding we were along side of some beautiful lakes with hills surrounding. Very picturesque and a great ride for a relaxing vacation.
