MaryEllen owns & operated the Little Harboar Boathouse in Marblehead, MA. This should be a must visit location when in the Salem, Marblehead, Lynn areas. While many locals sign up for membership for the season and summer camp, MaryEllen went out of her way to welcome vacationers & include out 9 year old son in 2 of the walk in camps.It costs $50 for a 2 hr session - he attended 1 afternoon & 1 morning session. The first one started off with tie dying t-shirts while waiting for all the campers to show. Then 3 experienced highschool/college age students took a group of kids (7-13 yrs old) out on SUP boards (can stand, sit or kneel to paddle) at low tide. They went around 2 islands off the Marblehead coast.The next AM, a similar group went out with a choice of SUP boards or kayaks out (at high tide). They paddles around the point of Marblehead, drove off the dock at Crosby's part, stopped into Coffey's (ice cream stand) to treat each of the kids to the flavor of their choise. After taking a few minutes to eat, they paddled back around the point.The instructors are great - patient with the kids and made sure that new learners were carefully watched & coached to master the water.MaryEllen is another amazing person we met at Marblehead - friendly, helpful and accomodating! This is a must do activity!
