This is a nice little playground on the water near downtown. There is ample parking, a large playground for different age groups, a water fountain, that kids can play in, and a path you can push a stroller. The park always has a lot of parents with children during the day and is a safe area away from traffic. I would avoid this park after dark and not allow teenage kids to "hang out" there. Some not so safe characters are attracted to this are after dark.
This is a nice expance of ocean beach just north of ythe harbor area. It hsc a nice area for the children...water spouts etc. Grass areas for picnics..a little cafe/store. The only drawback is lots of preschoolers on field trips at certain times.
Family fun and kid's birthday site. Splash pad beach, entrance to bike and whaling trail why fifty characters????????
They love the park, the mini-beach and of course the splash pad. Parking can be tough - need to get there before 930am on weekends to snag a spot!
Wonderful beach, water sprinklers, play ground - fantastic place to bring children. Seniors can sit on benches - unfortunately on a good day, this place fills up quickly - parking spaces fill for the day - we watched as one family had a small wedding on the grass and another family had a reunion. Both families were there very early to hold spaces. There is an osprey nest on a long pole and the place is so well manicured. Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the day or by lunch at the snack bar. VERY, VERY NICE!
This is a great place to park your car and use the bike/walking trail. Busy on weekends, but available during the week. Head to the North and you will reach the Cordage Park area, or head towards Plymouth waterfront. Access to beach along the way. During the summer nice snack bar, restrooms and play area for children.
I loved everything about it.it had a splash pad for the kids,a beach, playground, refreshment stand bathrooms, and a great overview of Plymouth.
Local beach and small water park for the younger kids. Playground, food stand, picnic tables and plenty of parking. Go for a walk on the bike/walk path before you head home it runs right along the water.
Nice smaller beach area, playground for kids, snack shop and a great walking trail that follows the shoreline. Great for families with young kids or someone who wants to sit and just read a book or soak up the sun. The walking trail is a must.
There is a Splash Pad at this park! It is busy on a summer day, and you may have to park down the street in some public lots a block or two away. But our 7 yr old and almost-5 yr old loved it! (Every town should raise money for a "splash pad".) We tried the food at the little snack cafe / bathroom building, and it was good! You can access the sea shore, and saw many families doing this, but I didn't check out how sandy vs gravel it was. There is a very nice bike path starting from this park, which I took with the 5 yr old. It is stone dust for the most part, with short paved sections at each road crossing. It is OK and about 1 mile long. (On one of our day outings, the whole family road several miles of the Cape Cod Canal Bikeway, which was all paved and 100% wide open views of boats on the canal.)
I have been to Nelson Memorial Park many, many times. I sometimes just go and sit with a cup of coffee and enjoy the view. I never get tired of it. I only live in the next town, but feel like I'm on vacation when I visit this park. Great place for families with children.
I am from Plymouth, so you can trust my word! I've lived here for nearly 22 years. Nelson Memorial Park is wonderful for families. There is a little water park type thing that is quite new, and a big playground for children to play on that has been updated here and there over the years. It's also very relaxing.Adults can rest and watch their children play from a table or the grass. It's very nice. The field is huge and great for picnicking as well! There is also an ice cream stand that used to open in the summer; however, I am not positive that it is still up and running. I hope this helps those who come and visit America's Home Town!
