hartley's pork pies

I wish I knew where another reviewer has found traditional English pork pies, because I've only ever found them at Hartley's. Yet getting them at Hartley's is a challenge. I don't mean that as a complaint. Just know that you might need to muster some persistence.I've actually tried to get Hartley's pork pies during my last ten or so visits to Massachusetts, but Hartley's was always closed. This time I made sure that I went during designated hours, but even then it was closed. So, from my car, I called and reached someone inside. He said that the pork had not been delivered yet and he only got his high-quality pork from one distributor. Okay. So I ordered my pork pies on the phone while sitting in my car outside of Hartley's and returned later in the day.The English are a bit eccentric, so why shouldn't a place that sells English pork pies be a bit unusual?Now, I can't complain too much that Hartley's didn't open on time, seeing as I wasn't able to pick up the pies until ten minutes after closing. But the door opened and I got my pork pies. They were great! Delicious pork, scrumptious crust. Truly a simple pleasure. I hadn't had a Hartley's pork pie in years, and it was worth all the trouble. They were also only $2.50 each. The Somerset memorabilia at the counter was an added bonus. I look forward to the next time that I call ahead for my pork pies. The number for Hartley's is saved in my cell phone.

Traditional pork pies, different style choices, limited time it is open. Worth the trip to find

Take out pork pies. Tasted good, but were way overpriced considering you can get them in almost any bakery around here.

No one makes better pork pies than Don!! When I visit MASS. it is alwayson my list of favorites. Thanks for making going home a memorble experience!
