Tudor Hall is a childhood home of the notorious John Wilkes Booth, Lincoln assassin. Lots of stories of his father Junius Booth, an actor. Interesting period house, but few furnishings inside. Unfortunately, on the day we visited, we had a truly creepy male docent, a guy in about his 50s or maybe a bit older. He was telling the family and home history with great flourish, in various voices. I guess he sees himself as an actor or sorts, and it was very weird. Completely ruined for me what I had hoped would be a pleasant afternoon of local history.
Tucked away in an idyllic country location near Bel Air, Maryland is the childhood home of John Wilkes Booth. This charming site is maintained by the Junius Booth society which periodically gives talks and presentations about the farm, the family and John Wilkes Booth himself. For anyone who is interested in the history of the Lincoln assassination, I would highly recommend attending one of their informative presentations. The house contains many family artifacats, photos and posters, period furniture and a small bookshop. A terriffic way to spend a Sunday afternoon!
