Wow! The food was amazing! We did not have reservations but were very accommodating! Service was great! Atmosphere was very cozy!
The restaurant is a rustic building and portrays a down home type of feeling. The meals are very large and reasonably priced; my wife and I could have split one meal. I had the brisket which was excellent and my wife had the stroganoff. I thought the service was excellent until the waitress kept making comments to a young boy at our table that had problems and wasn't very good at interacting with strangers. She needed to back off once it was obvious he wasn't able to respond.
A group of friends stopped at the Log Cabin for a relaxing lunch. We enjoyed great service, and our selections were excellent. Our selections consisted of sausage and shrimp soup, shaved prime rib wraps, Caesar salad, and fish and chips. Very good food at reasonable prices. We are all anxious to return!
Loved the rustic feel and the food was served quickly. My husband and I both had the fish and chips. It was the best I've ever had. It came with a sample of cole slaw which was also excellent.
My wife, daughter, and her boyfriend stopped here for lunch, ( on his recommendation), while on our way to a Mountaineer game in Morgantown. I had heard of this place from another friend but didn't really know what to expect. My wife and I both had the prime rib sandwich and were both very glad we did. The meal was outstanding and we were both very impressed, so much so we made a point of stopping in again on the way back from a day trip. My wife once again had the prime rib sandwich but this time I tried their smoked brisket sandwich. We shared each others sandwiches and let's just say that I now have two favorite sandwiches. All in all the Log Cabin Inn is a nice clean place with a pleasant atmosphere and so far outstanding food. I would recommend this place very highly.
My husband and I travel (drive) quite often. We don't like fast food and also hesitate to stop at unfamiliar places. But this was a great choice. Had a very cozy log cabin feel. The food was great and the service good. We both had wraps and fries. Next time we drive pass Hancock we will be sure to stop again.
Arrived at this steak house with a group of cyclers courtesy of our support vehicles (AKA "Sag wagons"). It was getting late and we were hungry having ridden anywhere from 25-40+ miles on a hot and humid day and just checked into a riverside lodge only to find that "Bill's" was closed. The menu had great choices in steaks and a beef, with limited options for other diets. "Rules of Cabin" advised that our group would get a standard service charge and strongly warned against asking for ANY Substitutions. The waitress was worthy of old-fashioned Bostonians and didn't tolerate much variation, but had a quick smile and served us rapidly and unerringly. The steak lovers had the best of the menu.
Have been here a few times before - my brother knew the man who use to own it. It is not easy to find - but worth the detour. It's really more of a bar atmosphere than a restaurant, but they have a great chef. My brother had a sliced brisket sandwich which he said was terrific. I had a beef stroganoff with noodles that was delicious - and enough for 3 meals! It's not inexpensive, but they have a full bar and the waitress who has been there for a long time is a delight. If you are on your way from Baltimore or DC out to the Westerm PA or Maryland destinations, punch this address into your GPS and stop here for lunch. Not upscale, but good.
Skip Breezewood and stop here to eat. We'll certainly make sure to stop the next time we're in the area. It's right off Rt 70 on Highway 40 outside of Hancock, Md. We stopped on a whim and were welcomed with open arms and great food. The daily soup was shrimp and sausage gumbo (make sure you order some if it's available) and the brisket sandwich (also awesome). It was just a short distance west on 40 from exit 5 and just a mile or two east of Hancock.Prices are reasonable, parking is free and ample. This is home cooked food. Tip: The sign says they open at noon, but we stopped a bit early (at 11:30) and they were pleased to serve us. They're a steak and grill place. Can't do better than Jimmy Joy's.
