This place is definitely worth a visit if you have young kids and holidaying on the south coast!Reasonably priced and good value.Small farm animals like rabbits, pigs, chooks, goats, etc, and other animals like wallaby's, kangaroos, emus, ponies. Ability to hand feed some. Can ride a pony for $5 extra, but worth it for the experience.Enclosed playground, sand pit area.Great little cafe for good coffee, drinks, snacks, etc...
We accidentally found out about this place online. The owners are lovely down to earth people who truly care about their animals. I would highly recommend the Goolwa Animal Farm, byo your tucker & make a day of it.
My grandchildren are 8 and 10 yrs old and love animals so this looked like a good place to take them. After 2 hours, in spite of the heat I was hard pressed to drag them away. For $8 each ($10 for adults, $8 for seniors, $35 family) it was good value. Another $5 gave them a pony ride and the "train" was free. Most of the animals are farm animals, geese, chooks, turkeys, sheep, horses, goats, and rabbits and guinea pigs, as well as very tame emus and kangaroos, most of which allow the children to handle them. There is a good play area, toilets and basic refreshments in a tin shed. It is not a Dude ranch but more like an honest working farm. It is recommended to wear shoes rather than sandals, and take a sunhat and sunscreen. The site on Airport Road is well signposted from the main Goolwa road.
Amazing place and great family fun. Friendly and informative owners. Loads of animals to pet and feed. We also had a chance to feed the joeys. Train ride a bonus too!
We have visited several times. The children love the hands on experiences with the animals. Especially having pony rides and a lesson. Alan and Carolyn are great friendly hosts and Lou is great with the children on the horses. It's difficult to get the children to leave. The coffee is great too.
We chanced upon Goolwa Animal Farm during our recent visit to Victor Harbour and what a serendipitious surprise it was!The hosts Alan and Caroline, and their family were warm and friendly and we at once felt at ease with them. They were wonderfully patient in answering my kids unending questions. The farm is run with very evident love; from the way animals have their own names and stories, to the way orphaned joeys were carried around in a pouch. My girls loved the small animal petting barn where they looked in awe at the tiny 2 week old bunny and cuddled guinea pigs. They ran around delightedly with free roaming alpacas, farm animals and ponies in their large enclosures .My kids loved the pony ride and were begging for more. Their daughter runs an equestrian centre on the premises. There is a cosy café where I had a lovely cup of coffee whilst the kids were happily exploring. An exciting development is the refurbished retired train cabins that can accommodate 4 people each, so the kids are already planning to come and stay for their next holiday! Thanks for the hospitality, Alex and Caroline; u guys are awesome and we will be back for a stay sometime.
A lovely, family run farm with lots to entertain my little one. Lovely, well maintained grounds and such caring staff that really went out of their way to make our trip worth while. All the animals were very age appropriate and appeared really well loved and cared for. Great value for money with a variety of animals, train ride and beautiful play area. Will definitely be visiting again.
Highly recommend this place! Maxie had an absolute ball!! Lots of animals to feed my favourites where the baby emu chicks, the joey that I bottle fed and the cute little piglet Wilbur. They have pony rides, tractor rides and they have a massive outdoor play area with a soft play enclosed area for little ones along with a mini assault course, sand pit, cubby house, little tikes cars etc loads of space to run around and shaded picnic areas too. We had a great morning there!! Get on it people!! ❤️
Myself and two girls aged 9 and 6 had a brilliant day out here. The owners have thought of everything and they clearly understand what families need. From the clean toilets, to the playground with gated soft play for families with young toddlers/babies. We visited on a day when a very large OSCH group were visiting and this could have easily ruined our visit. However, the owners went out of their way to make sure the "paying" visitors were well looked after and it wasn't a problem at all.We went back the next day for a longer pony ride and while we waited my girls were allowed another play with the animals and a chance to cuddle the baby joeys with no entrance fee charged. They loved their pony rides and the owners daughter has clearly inherited her parents easy going, polite, kind nature.Excellent vale for money, take a picnic, plan to be there for at least three hours and enjoy.
This is a large farm with sheeps, lamas, goats, rabbits, guinea pigs, horses etc. Animal food available for purchase. Very friendly, kind and passionate owner. Big playground for children, tables with tent, great place for birthday parties. This is the best farm we have ever been at!
This is an excellent experience.A wide range of animals to feed and intract with.Including animals that children of all ages can touch and apt.Well maintained and a great place to takea picnic lunch. The crew are all very helpful and courteous. This place really deserves to be busy, but it appears that there is always room to move and let your children have a first hand experience.I could recommend the pony rides(children with us were 5,8 and 11).Much better than zoos for small children and there is a lot to be learned from the visit. The baby rabbits made a big impression on our group and one of them wanted to adopt a bunny.
Fantastic day out, highly recommended. Suggest you bring some snacks and a picnic lunch and stay a while, see the animals and relax. Heaps to do for the kids, a family ticket is just that 2 Adults and - 2,3,4 kids in your family, no worries - same price (must be all genuine siblings and not friends) we have 3 little boys so it was a pleasant surprise !! Entry includes a kids Pony Ride and a cup of feed for the kids as well, refills are just 50c !! It's so lovely to see a real Genuine family owned and operated business that truely caters for families - We enjoyed Alan & Caroline's hospitality so much we went back 2 weeks in a row - Great Work !!
As grandparents was looking for things to do and we can highly recommend this farm barn, we took a picnic lunch and had a wonderful time there great area to have a picnic with cubby and sandpits for the children to play in. We fed many animals pigs lamb kangaroos goat emus it was so much fun for the kids and my grand kids especially loved the rabbits. We spent approx three hours there. I do wish I had put their gum boots in. They also have pony rides. Thanks for a lovely day.
An absolutely gorgeous day out, Caroline was a wonderful host and went above and beyond to ensure the kids had a great day. Having a toddler I appreciated the extra things like having a clean toilet and change table area packed with a few extra bits incase you forgot a nappy or wipes, the music makers and the play ground area is great. I expected (as with another Adelaide Hills animal farm) that we'd be out in a hour but we stayed for 3.5 hours and could've easily stayed longer if we'd taken a picnic lunch. I highly recommend a visit.
We visited the Goolwa Animal Farm today and what a lovely treat for us all. I struggled to ply my child out of the gates when it was time to go. It's such a nice set up that Allan and Caroline have created, a place for not only the kids to get up close and personal with the farm critters but mum and dad can have a coffee and chill out. There seemed to be lots for the kids to do with petting animals, pony rides, truck ride and gumboot throwing competitions! Can't wait for the old train to be completed into tea rooms. We all look forward to visiting again soon.
