I visited Mira Flores on the suggestion from someone at Holly's Hill Vineyard. She knew I enjoyed Port wines and boy did she steer my in the right direction.Our server was quite knowledgeable and friendly. She let us wander at our own pace, but was quick to get our opinions and taste some more.I ended up purchasing a membership which was quite inexpensive. Looking forward to my next shipment. I'd also like to point out how much better the general ambiance/culture is in Placerville. There isn't even a hint of Napa snootiness!

We were a group of 4 visiting the winery for the second time. We had planned to purchase several bottles. There was a group of about 8 people being served so we decided to wait outside and enjoy the view (we were not welcomed when we came into the room) We returned after a few minutes and were still ignored. We then walked up to the counter ( there was plenty of room) and were still ignored. The server was chatting and telling stories to the other group. It was extremly awkward. After about 15 minutes of being completly ignored, we walked out. We have never had such extremely rude service. We were with a couple that lives in the area, and they believe the server was recently hired from another winery. Good for the other winery to be free of her! We will never return.

We love coming here for the wonderful wines, the fantastic view, and the most perfectplace to enjoy a picnic lunch with that new vintage! Best place to relax and enjoy in the whole area. We felt very welcomed and appreciated.

The new gold in Placerville is this perfect little winery in the Sierra foothills.The winery is in a picture perfect setting, with Italian-inspired architecture for the cozy tasting room. We had the chef's lunch on Saturday -- it was one of the finest lunch values I've had anywhere. Superior to fine dining in New York or San Fransisco. And set on the back covered patio overlooking the hills and vineyards. The gourmet food was skillfully paired with Miraflores wines.And now I get to the wines. Truly top-flight wines across the board. I particularly favored the Zins and the desert wine - but all were superb. Oh, and did I mention: no fee for the tasting. This is the new Napa -- but better and cheaper. And no pretensions -- just great scenery and great wines.

I live around here, so I'm partial to our Pleasant Valley wineries. Miraflores has built Pleasant Valley's most beautiful winery, and has retained one of the world's best winemakers to craft their offerings. Perfect picnic destination with local views and an expansive patio. The new tasting room building is crafted from massive old timbers from a century's old Mexican church (IIRC). The owners here have spent a lot of money making this not only Pleasant Valley's finest winery, but perhaps El Dorado County's most opulent wine venture. Wines here are somewhat more expensive than other locals, but in many cases probably worth it. Not to be missed on any wine trip to EDC.

Tucked out of the way, the new tasting room is relaxing and inviting. It is large enough to not feel crowded and the terrace gives ample room to sample their wines. The winemaker has a long history with the Napa and Sonoma wines. All the wines are structurally sound and true to character. You can taste a Methode Ancienne Syrah that was crushed with the feet of club members and volunteers. Or focus on several of the lush desert wines and their fragrant noses. The winery host regular pairing of food and wine, cooking demonstrations, and events featuring local arts. It is one of the three must see wineries along with Holly's Hill and Narrow Gate in the area.

Driving along the private road leading to the vines and wine at Miraflores is like entering a fine estate or personal park. Towering trees dot the landscape and patches of flowers spring up in unexpected places. But round a corner, and you see it, the tasting room set on top of the hill among acres of grapes. For a moment, you believe you’ve been transported to the south of France or a Tuscan hilltop.With a spacious patio area overlooking the vineyards at this eastern edge of the Pleasant Valley region, the tasting room and its adjacent outdoor seating areas invite you to explore and enjoy. Make sure you read one of the fliers about the history of the building materials for the tasting room! Constructed from historical salvaged wood, Mediterranean stone, and custom-made and found treasures by craftspeople flown in from around the world, the winery building itself is a marvel. Lean up against the long wooden tasting bar and you can almost hear the stories of its ship dock past.Miraflores is best known for its Zinfandels, Syrahs, and Petite Sirahs, and many people find their dessert wines to be very appealing, particularly the refillable bottles of Black Muscat. The Petite Sirahs have a lighter touch than is common from other winemakers in the area. The grapes cover terrain that has significant changes in elevation, with the Cabernet Sauvignon getting plenty of sun at the top of the hill just shy of 3,000 feet. Blends are not part of the winery’s repertoire.

Miraflores has some of the best events in the area. Food pairings, ccoking classes & their Wild Game Night in December is so much fun. We suggest membership in their club as they have lots of benefits. Friendly staff (especially Julie) Love it, we have had several friends join.

Drive down the gravel road and you stumble upon a large building that one might find only in Tuscany. I had a bad bottle of Miraflores chard at from the supermarket so I had to taste it from the source. Not too shabby, but it was our last winery, so I may have had my beer goggle tastebuds on. Based on the luxe estate alone the winery is high society tucked away in the Sierras. Who knew?

We are "locals" and take the opportunity to visit Miraflores on a regular basis and it never disappoints. The facilities are gorgeous (old world decor - stone floors from Malta, fireplace from the 13th century, exterior doors reclaimed from local mining sites, immense ceiling beams reclaimed from the Port of Oakland, etc. Owned by Victor Alvarez, he is passionate about his wine and his commitment to the success of this venture is obvious. It can be a little hard to find (look carefully for the signs off Pleasant Valley Road), but worth the effort. The winery is very nearby a small cluster of other producers of fine Sierra Foothills wines, and it's easy to make a fun day of visiting and sampling some of the best viticulture in the area. Marco Capelli is the consulting winemaker with years of experience working for Napa Valley establishments. He bring his talents to Miraflores and the results speak for themselves. Friendly staff and a welcome environment make for a very pleasant experience. Nice vineyard views and ample picnic space.
