End of our gambling weekend with friends. Had to take them to Red Hawk casino for dinner and gambling.Let me start out with our dinner. After a great steak dinner at Thunder Valley (TV) casino, we thought we would try Chinese at Red Hawk's Pearl restaurant. What a mistake. Over priced, unauthenic chinese food. Average dish costs $20; at real Chinese places, would cost around $10. I don't think they have a Chinese cook. For six dishes, we spent almost $200 for a party of five. And we left hungry. Don't try this place; it's a definite Do Not Go.The gambling was just a poor. A different clientele than TV. Not much selection of slots or table games. I won some money while my friends lost. I don't underdstand how this place ended number one on KCRA TV's A-List other than they pay for advertising on the station. If you like good food and gambling, don't go here
Great parking and large very nice Casino. They had a kids floor so kids were not on the gaming floor. Clean and fun to visit.
I'm not a big fan of casinos, still Red Hawk is new and attracts a lot of people. The facility is clean, the gaming equipment seems modern, but the smell of smoke on the gaming floor is lingering despite the high tech exhaust systems. The food court offers extensive choices at some bargain prices, particularly the buffet. Henry's Steakhouse offers upscale dining, but at a very high price. Since I don't gamble, I can't review the payback percentages or rewards card perks. Overall if you like casinos Red Hawk is as good as any.
I live few miles from Red Hawk and I have visited Red Hawk Casino several times , I never win here .the slot machines are not regulated like NV. 75 % payback , NJ. 83 % payback . Tribal Casinos not required any payback returns . If you want to witness or experience Highway robbery visit Red Hawk casino , they advertise 98 % return for their slot machines , in fact it means that you have to return 98 times before you can win any money . The free gift that they give on Sat. it is not worth more than $ 2.99 sometimes you find better things in Dollar Store .
I stopped here because I was passing through and I wanted to check it out. I went to the counter to get a card. At Cache Creek, first time visitors usually get $25 to gamble plus points for food. Red Hawk gave me nothing. The smell of smoke hit from outside and it was bad inside too. The slots seemed to cost a lot more than what I'm used to and I won $0. I lost $100 in about 5 minutes. It was a Saturday and I ate at the buffet. $25.99 a person and it was horrible. I tried a bit of everything and wasn't impressed with anything. The fried chicken had a strange smell and it looked like it was cooked in old grease. The next day I went to Cache Creek and won $600 on a penny machine. I'll just stay there from now on.
Came here for a retirement luncheon; I expected standard Casino style buffet fare, but I was pleasantly surprised! The food and selection was wonderful and delectable! The Chinese green beans was fresh and crisp; the roast beef was perfectly prepared with choice of rare to well done and tender! The Pho bar was hiding behind the dessert bar...but well worth the search for made to order Pho Noodles!Easily accessible from Highway 50, the only downside is like any other casino, the gauntlet of smoke one must traverse through to get to the buffet; at least we were in our own room, off to the side of the Asian leg of the buffet, it comfortably seats 60 and the service was phenomenal! As stated earlier, I am not much of a gambler, but I do recommend you obtain the "rewards card" for this casino so you can take full advantage of the discounts (including that wonderful buffet!) those in our party that did partakeOf the gaming had a good time and we all came out "winners"We are definitely coming back!
Was there for New Years to eat and celebrate. Couldnt eat there because of private parties that took all the seats in the two restaurants we tried to go to. oh well, not to spoil our fun we ate at the lil cafe they had. They over cooked our meals and the manager acted as if it was my fault. Oh well, not to ruin our fun we Gambled... What else do you do in a casino.lol.. Even though we were loosing we kept the smiles on our faces. Needing more $$$ we went to one of the many ATM machines and punched in the amount to withdrawl. It stated it could not complete our transaction and did NOT give a reciept. So we went to another, got our $$$ and continued on till midnight. Just to let everyone know. If they (redhawk) cant complete your ATM withdrawl they still take the $$$ from your bank. Thieves... When you call them they give you the run around and transfer you to many employees until finally your given a voice mail.Bottom line, make sure you bring your own money and NEVER use they're ATM machines..
I was surprised to see they allow smoking indoors in California. I haven't been to a casino in years. it was awful. I didn't gamble much and can't complain on that front but it was soo smoky and crowded. We all left with our eyes stinging and wer were there maybe a couple of hours. Not coming back until they ban smoking.
Hard to get into and park. Long way to the casino. Bad layout. Smokey. Couldn't find the restaurants. Everything looked dirty, but it just seemed to be the color choices. The machines do not pay. The drink station was messy and dirty. I will stop now.
We stopped here to kill some time before our hotel check in time. The bad news: if you're a nonsmoker, this place is really smoky. The good news: the lower level is non smoking. The selection of games is limited in the nonsmoking area but I will take that over having smoke blown in my face. There are some good restaurants and buffet. We left with a little more money than we arrived with so it was a pretty good visit.
If you want to gamble and have fun this Casino is NOT the place . Their machines are the tightest in California . Also don't believe anything a manager has to say . My wife and I have been promised around 3 buffets which we have never seen . They said we would have them on our players cards but they were not there . The manger with all the promises is Glen not a good person at all and I say that because anyone who promises you something then forgets about it and tells you to your face he forgot but can't do it , Oh well he's lower than whale poop , lies right to your face . That's the way to keep us coming back . GO TO THUNDER VALLEY OR JACKSON - Redhawk doesn't pay !!
Hi Shawn,I can understand your frustration with your recent visit, however, I would like to remind you of the following items that our team responded to you with 48 hours after you wrote in to your Casino Host, Kristina, to explain about your recent visit.1. It is always the guest's responsibility to return to the boarding area prior to the departure time of their bus. You had your Rewards Card in a machine, playing, 20 minutes after the scheduled departure time of your bus. The bus driver and bus company must remain on time and prompt for all passengers and scheduled stops.2. Our Guest Service staff immediately responded to your concerns, letting you know when the next possible available transportation back to San Francisco would be arriving. Because the volume of riders is unknown by our staff until the next bus' arrival, there was no way to guarantee you a spot on the next possible bus. 3. Despite your threats in your initial email letter, our Motor Coach manager responded to you 1 day later, offering her apologies and assistance. She has not yet heard back from you.4. You were complimentary upgraded to Platinum status during your visit. You also received a Free Ride and complimentary buffet vouchers for the trip in question.Red Hawk Casino values our guest service standards and again apologize for your less than ideal experience. We hope this additional information regarding your concerns has been helpful and that you choose to visit us again.
Some of the waiters are worth to give five star, however, the person (female, she short and Asian, look like Hmong or mien nationality, long black hair, wear purple tshirt sometimes) behind the baccarat table is very RUDE, unfriendly, and always nasty when we ask for the check. This casino have been known as "best casino" but not live up to the professionalism. Been to too many casinos and a player card holder but disappointed because of this particularly person. They should have train them harder so they can learn to respect the players ( but with that person training would do no good). So I hope Red Hawk would receive more low score because of that person or just fire her because of her unacceptable attitude.
Maybe I'm too smoke sensitive, but the smoke level is THICK. We travel to Las Vegas 3-4 times a year and apparently Vegas has a much better handle on easing the smoke level. That being said the gaming aspect of Red Hawk is fun and the dining options are very good. If you're looking for a local casino the location is reasonable and the setting is very nice.
Our luck lately has been better at Red Hawk than at Thunder Valley and Jackson Rancheria, and we enjoy the gifts when they don't require you to play even more than you would normally do. However, the Rewards folks can use a lot of customer service training. Except for Kam and Josephine, who are fantastic, and their boss Jim, the rest of the Rewards staff we've encountered have been short-tempered, snippy and, with one I won't mention by name (female, starts with an "L"), downright rude. Also, it's not cool that there's no heads up when an item is not in when it's supposed to be, meaning they give out a raincheck with no apology. Like it's OK to make you return for a THIRD time after coming in on a Saturday to "reserve" your gift and then the following Saturday to claim it. They should sweeten the gift if they make you spend time and gas because something happened on their end, or the supplier's. Even Raley's/Bel Air will give 10% off the item when giving out a raincheck. They get it, but Red Hawk doesn't. If there's a system to notify those with rainchecks that the item is finally in, there should be another (email is fast and cheap) to tell you that if you want a certain gift, choose something else or let us know and we'll notify you. Also, it's disappointing that the coffee shop is no longer open during breakfast hours, forcing you to eat at the more expensive and dangerous buffet if you want to dine onsite, and it's a shame Henry's, which is great, is no longer on OpenTable.com. Overall, however, Red Hawk provides us with entertainment and excitement the Sacramento area sorely needs.
