My husband and I met up with some colleagues and friends for the food tour of Davidson. We had a blast, the food and beverages were awesome and the history lesson was very interesting! I have lived in the area for almost 20 years and I learned so much about the city. I would recommend doing this whether you live near or far!
Highly recommend this activity. It was a great way to get to know the town and a little about its history. AND, we toured to six different restaurants and sampled plates from pancakes to ribs. Learned about a few new restaurants and circled back for a full meal there during our stay. Tour guide, Lisa, was engaging and the tour well organized. Highly recommend this for anyone traveling to Davidson (or Charlotte) ... it's a great, fun way to find new places to eat and drink -- AND, only locally owned places are included.
We had a fantastic experience with Tour De Food. The range of different food we tried was amazing, everything from milkshakes and fries to authentic Italian food to ribs. Our tour guide Theresa was very knowledgeable and pointed out historic spots along the walks. The restaurant owners/managers were all very nice and helpful. The only downside was it rained the whole afternoon, but we just put up our umbrellas and continued on! Would be a great present for any couple or a great afternoon out. Be ready to eat though, it was enough to cover both lunch and dinner for two hungry young adults.
We had a great afternoon with our guide, Teresa. The food was very good and we got a lot too eat. A few of the "favorites" - slow cooked ribs at Brickhouse Tavern, pork sliders at the Italian restaurant Campania, raspberry walnut pancakes at Toast and a chocolate milkshake at the Soda Shop. Fuel Pizza is also on the tour as is Davidson Beverage Company if you like speciality pizzas and craft beer.
We just moved here from Connecticut so we used this tour to get a little information on the area try a sampling of food at the local hot stops. Now we have a list of places to go back to. Our hostess was charming and informative. The group was small but large enough to mingle well. I am looking forward to doing a few more areas soon
My hubby & I were surprised at how much food was served. We already live in the area and have frequented most of the restaurants on the tour, but enjoyed ourselves immensely anyway. This tour was worth every penny and I would highly recommend it whether you are a newcomer or already familiar with the area. We have our sights on the No-Da tour next!
This event was simply amazing! Fantastic tour guide, incredible history of the town, amazing food! My friend gave this to me as a birthday present, and we had the best time together, meeting new people and trying fabulous food!
We were looking for something different to celebrate our wedding anniversary and decided to give this local tour a try . What a great decision ! The food was great ! Out tour guide Theresa was very familiar with the area and we learned quite a bit about Davison .We also met some great new "foodie " friends ! A must if you love to eat great food and get some exercise .We are looking forward to going on more food tours with Tour De Food !
This event was simply awesome! I strongly recommend it. My husband and I met some wonderful people, sampled some milkshakes, beers and ciders. We got to try fabulous food from restaurants we didn't even know existed. We also got to learn about the history of Davidson while getting in a 2 mile walk!
If you like food with locally sourced ingredients, craft beer, art and a dash of city history, this tour is worth it. Buy the tickets at least a few days in advance to make sure there is room, as the tour size maxes out at around 18. Wear comfortable shoes, as you will be walking up and down several small city-outskirts blocks to get from place to place. Every restaurant, bar, store and indeed building in the historic Davidson district has history and character, and you will learn a little bit about some of these locations while sampling great local fare. You might also get to know some fun and like-minded strangers before it's over!
Being new to the Charlotte area, my wife and I are so glad we took this tour. We met a lot of great people on the tour, and got to learn about some historical facts about Davidson, NC, as well as sample some delicious food and drink from select Davidson dining establishments, The portions at each restaurant were just right, and we were full by the end the tour. It was nice also because we got to meet some of the owners and managers from each stop. Our tour guide, Teresa was great and we highly recommend her and this tour. We plan to take the Uptown Charlotte tour next.
I recently took the food tour in Charlotte and loved it! I also requested a donation for my childrens school and they responded immediately. Food De Tour is an example of how great communities are made. There tour has restaurants that support local farmers, are owned by locals and obvioulsy hire locals. We learn about them and become patrons and our communities flourish. WELL DONE!
This my first food tour and it was a great experience. Our tour guide was awesome and I would recommend this tour to anybody, the restaurants and owners were really nice and at the end of the tour you'll end up full. This tour is great because we got to taste some local beer as well as local wine.
We took the Davidson Tour De Food which started at 1:30 PM. Thought i should eat before going , not knowing how much food would be served....big mistake! Not only were the restaurants a good cross section of the area's offerings, all of them served full size portions of the foods we were sampling. The tour was well laid out, well thought out and very well led. We also received an education in local lore along the way. Our tour guide (was Terese)...she was a lot of fun. For anyone looking for a great day out with neighbors (many of the locals could walk), date day or girls days out...you gotta try this!
I live in Clemmons, NC and had the opportunity to take the Davidson tour on Monday afternoon. It was AWESOME! Since I had never been to Davidson, this foodie tour was the best way to get familiar with the people, food, and and local flare in this area. The restaurants on the tour were diverse, the people were friendly, the food was delicious and plentiful, the history was interesting and walking from place to place made it relaxing and so enjoyable! I feel like this was well worth the money and so much fun that I am getting a group of friends together from my neighborhood and scheduling a Tour De Food in Winston Salem! I hope we get the same guide...she was fabulous!
