My wife and I were married here by the lake 40 years ago. There were over 100 family and friends around with a great pitch-in picnic. A sweet place for families.
We visited here between Oct 17-19th and enjoyed the drive through and views. We stopped and skipped rocks at the lake and talked with the DNR at the park office. They were very nice and informative.
We drove down to Brown County on a fall weekend, to find Nashville and the State Park mobbed with other people. We kept driving and found Yellowwood State Forest, which I'd never heard of. What a find! An idyllic, quiet park with plenty of natural beauty (the lakes!) and only a few other people: mainly college kids, photographers, and serious fishermen. Highly recommended and well worth the visit. We'll be back.
Forget the crowded state park. Come over to Yellowwood if you like the serenity of a beautiful lake and forest trails.
My father-in-law brought my husband, 2 children and I here on our recent visit to Nashville. We rented a row boat to row across the lake and explore the creek. The kids enjoyed trying to row as well as exploring the creek and even finding a couple of small geodes. We did get stuck using the boat as shelter when an unexpected storm came up, but that added to the memories. There was an easy return site for the oars and life vests. Made for a fun afternoon.
Although YSF Is Located Only 10-Miles Between The Quaint Shopping/Dining Village of Nashville & The College Town of Bloomington IN, It Seems To Be Far Apart From Civilization In It's Pretty, Forested Setting. There Are Primative Tent Sites, As Well As Sites With Electricity For RVs. Water Spigots & Restrooms Are Located Around The 4-Camping Loops. Numerous Marked Trails Wind Thoughout The Forest & Around The Large Lake. A Small Visitors Center/Ranger Station Is Just Off The Main Gravel Road Running Through The Forest. Camping Fees Are Nominal.
Take the time to visit this location. Nice drive around and walking paths around the lake. Easy to get to from Nashville.
Beautiful, and camper friendly. Plenty of facilities, and fun roads. Watch out for flash flooding near the dam.
