This is one of the wineries we always visit when in WI, and it's one of the states founding wineries (goes back to the late 70s / early 80s). It's in the middle of nowhere but worth the trip if you like fruit wines. His raspberry wine is incredible, and it is delicious with cheesecake. I was also really impressed with his cherry wine this time. My husband likes the blueberry as well, and while it's not my favorite, I do think he has one of the better blueberry wines. I would have said the best until I tried a blueberry wine at Whispering Bluffs that I thought was better. The staff here is incredible, and you can pretty much try any wine you want with no charge. Their cheese spreads are completely addictive as well. It's worth the effort to find this place, especially if you like fruit wines. That Door County stuff does not hold a candle to what you will get at Spurgeon.

Spurgeon winery is a must stop. My 3 friends and I had made plans to visit earlier in the day when the day just got away from us. We had stopped at a winery earlier were the service was a little uncomfortable. We arrived at Spurgeon at 4:50. We thought ok we have 10 minutes. 2 of us had never gone to a taste testing while 2 others had. 1 of the girls doesn't like wine that is until we met wonderful Shirley. She took the time to teach us a lot about wines it didn't matter that we stayed after 5:00.she was so patient and answered all of our questions. There are over 20 wines to sample. Favorites Ruby Lady, cranberry, cherry. Shirley suggested the cherry wine with vanilla ice- cream. Guess what we tried it the next night it was delicious!!!Visit spurgeon winery and discover you're favorite wines. Say hi to Shirley from us.We visited on Friday August 15, 2014

We stop in at least once a year and sample /stock up on some wines. Tasting is free, prices are reasonable and folks are friendly. They stock cheese and crackers in their cooler for those who want to picnic on their spacious porch. Trout fishing within walking distance.

Tucked away in the hills of Wisconsin this is a vineyard with some great local wine. This place is a gem. Ruby Lady wine is a must to try.

We were immediately greeted and called over to the tasting bar as we walked into the building. Twenty-two wines to try and we were encouraged to taste! We bought a bottle to sit on their porch and enjoy. A gem of a find!

We had planned a trip to Spurgeon Winery after the Spring Green Fine Art Fair.Quite the adventure because we were totally unaware of the previous flooding of the Pine Tree Road , which was partially washed out. If you take your time and drive slow you will make it to the winery, which is well worth the trip! The staff was very accomodating and friendly. We took our time and tasted many wines. We were familiar with some Spurgeon wines but had no idea of the great choices of the other wines we had been missing out on. The winery is very well kept with a small gift shop featuring wine supplies, Spurgeon wine collector wine glasses, great t-shirts etc. There is a refrigerator with a good variety of cheeses, cheese spreads & cold wines you can purchase as well as crackers, pretzels and chocolates. You can then have some wine and a snack at a tabke on their deck and relax amoungst the beauty of the countryside. We were also given directions to nearby Rural Route 1 popcorn by the winery staff which is a must stop if in the area! I would highly recommend this winery to anyone along with RR1 popcorn in Montfort,WI.

We stopped at the winery on the advice of the hotel we were staying at. The wines were very tasty and the owner gave us quite a few samples to try. We were on a motorcycle so taking alot home was going to be a problem. She shipped them to us, but in the process two bottles didn't make it. I called them and they promptly shipped out two more. A day later they discovered two bottles broke enroute and the post office returned them. We received a phone call from the owners to make sure we got our wine and were happy. Very nice people and their wines were sooo good.

Spurgeon is a little vineyard, tucked back away in the hills of Highland, WI. We stopped there on 05/26/2012 as part of the Southern Wisconsin Wine Chocolate and Wine Trail. I was very surprised at the peppery Shiraz (will be FANTASTIC with burgers), but on the opposite end of things, they have a port that was quite lovely. I recommend stopping in and tasting their wines to see what fits your tastes.
