Nice place to see a piece of days gone by. This bridge was used by confederates on their retreat from gettysburg and it is rumored that they hanged three deserters from the battle here. Supposedly haunted, a favorite of ghosthunters.
This is worth seeing and the National Park patrols it. Some of the Union units crossed it coming into town pre-battle and the Army of Northern Virginia retreated across it after the battle. Adults and children alike will find it interesting. Get directions from someone. It is hard to find.
cool bridge i guess. suppose to be haunted and i like to ghost hunt but got nothing. There is a lot of grafitti there which ruins things but its just an ok place, nothing to really go out of your way for
Sachs covered bridge is a must see when in Gettysburg. It's close to the battlefield and museums. The weather was perfect the day we visited and the bridge reflected in the water so beautifully. Very quiet & serene. We took a short walk around the area and captured a lot of fabulous photos. There is a small stone lot to park your car & there is no fee to park or explore the bridge and the surrounding area.
I love covered bridges to begin with so of course Sachs Bridge was a "must" visit site. Nice place to take a stroll and imagine all those soldiers crossing it. Didn't see any ghosts the day we were there, but it's said that it's haunted. If I were a believer of haunting, I would think the entire area would be so.
Interesting place to stop by and take some nice photographs. Have heard that it is haunted, but have heard that about all of Gettysburg.
Great place to stop and reflect on what happened in Gettysburg. We stopped as the sun was setting. Just beautiful.
Sach's Covered Bridge is an historic Gettysburg landmark. Manylocals know it is haunted. Visitors take orb pictures and manyspirits have been seen. Unsubstantiated rumors say three soldierswere hanged from the bridge after the Battle. But whether you see ghostly visitors or not, the Bridge is a PA classic structure dating from well before the Battle. Last time we saw it (we own "clean and green" land near the Bridge, it was in good shape.Visit at night to see the ghosts.
Really wanted to visit this bridge, but had a hard time finding it. A bit off the beaten path, but definitely worth the effort. We took some advice to find it, but found out later we took the most difficult route. If you want to visit this bridge, take Business Route 15 South to Millerstown Road where you'll take a right. This road turns into Pumping Station Road. Turn left on Waterworks Road and at the end is the bridge. This is an eerie experience. The things that happened here will stun your imagine. Total brutality. It has a haunting sensation about it. Peaceful, very pretty, but somehow strangely uncomfortable. We chatted with a couple that had visited the bridge multiple times including in the dead of night. They encouraged us to do the same, but I must admit we chickened out. I'm sure there are unsettled spirits that still haunt this bridge, but we did not have the courage to take a chance and possible see them.
Awesome place to go for some quiet, amazing photography opportunities and historical value. Always have to stop at least once every time we are there.
It was great to see and walk in the Sachs Covered Bridge. We arrived at the bridge during sunset, which was a perfect time. This is particularly amazing as the number of covered bridges are waning.
I have been to the bridge several times during the day, as well as at night during paranormal investigations..... It doesn't disappoint! The nearby field hospital and the significance during the battle make for a spooky atmosphere after dark, but be warned that rowdy local teens sometimes like to visit, too. A beautiful location during the day, very photogenic.
When in Gettysburg make sure you stop by and see this bridge, lots of history just too bad so many people have to carve stuff into the wood.
Although this is a cool piece of history to see, and is not too far from the battlefields. It has been tarnished a lot by graffiti and trash, but still worth the trip.
loved the view we went during the day, fabulous experience-perfect for a picnic lunch-seen a snake:(
