This is a fantastic place if you want to see a proper cowboy bar that's not intimidating. I went into Arkey Blue's Silver Dollar (another cowboy bar) which I found slightly scary as a women on her own - seems like there's a rather old crowd hanging out in that bar. The Longhorn Saloon was nothing like that, it's lively and you can find people of all ages. The live music was fantastic, everyone was dancing the two step and wearing a cowboy hat.

I had such a good time at this place. I was on a solo trip away for a weekend, and I was actually looking on the internet for a place to grab a bite to eat and the Longhorn Saloon popped up on my phone. They didn't have food, but I decided to grab a beer since I was there already. The bartender was very nice and friendly. He introduced me to a couple of the other customers and I had nice conversations with them. I even two-stepped later in the evening once the live music started. The band was so good. After a while, I forgot that I was looking for food to begin with! A couple weeks later, I took my sister-in-law from California. I'm pretty sure there aren't any places like this in California. There was a band that night too, and we both had a great time.

What a great place. The Longhorn Bar was just perfect for a place like Bandera. Proper country people drinking and have a goof time. Behind the bar, Brooke was brilliant, fun and a great spirit. My partner and I went in three nights in a row, alternating driving responsibilities so both got to have a few drinks there. The atmosphere was great and all the people (bar one) to whom I chatted were friendly and personable. On my night drinking I perhaps had a few too many but no problem. The drinks were strong and well priced. The Longhorn is owned by the brother of Clint Black, a well known Country singer and the bands there were very good. I learnt to two step at the Longhorn and had a great time on the dance floor. It was good to see so many people of all ages dancing and enjoying themselves. My better half loved dancing with me there and it added to the great time. Two not so great points was that the smoke became a bit too much for me on a Friday night and I had to step outside to get some fresh air. The other was the one guy that was not so friendly but he was a jerk and later I saw him getting into a fight in the men's restroom. He was soon taken outside without much incident. Overall, a great place and I want to go back now!
