Anyone interested in history, especially civil war history, should be sure to visit this monument when traveling through Comfort Texas. It is easy to find with no access issues of any kind. It is relatively simple but very meaningful. The story it tells is unique and very interesting. Your visit would not have to be long - do not miss it!

The only place other than Arlington Cemetery where the US Flag flies at half staff, in tribute to the brave US patriots who were slaughtered by the Texans at the start of the Civil War.

A "must see" for history buffs. Too involved to describe here, but relates to the Civil War and those from this area that supported the Union. Recognized as one of the few locations permitted to fly the US Flag at half mast at all times. Look into it.
