I've been several times to this unique area with a great view of the Loess Hills and Missouri River valley. Be sure to take the stairs up the overlook. There are nice exhibits of local animals. Lovely deck for a view too. Top-notch children's educational opportunities. Dedicated staff.I've been told this was to be a garbage heap at one time. Thankfully it is a nature area to treasure instead.

Great views from the bluffs! Love to watch the raptors that frequent the area. Hiking with grat views.

A hilltop amidst the vast farmlands of Iowa and a view tower on the top of this hill. It's the best experience to watch the sun peep from the end of horizon. The height gives you an advantage of seeing the sun right at the crack of dawn and what an experience! You have to be there to feel it. Besides the scenic beauty on all sides, you get to see the red-tails fairly close from the tower.

This park is wonderful. The workers keep the park in tip top shape. They perform prairie burns to keep everything clean and coming back healthy. This park is excellent for all who like hiking, birding, camping. The park also has a lookout tower that goes approximately 50 ft in the air that gives you a overlook of the whole park and river valley.

The Hitchcock Nature Center is definitely worth a visit. The staff are so knowledgeable about the different species of birds, wildlife, and the area in general. It's a great hiking area and there's a wonderful tower that provides a 360 degree view of the surroundings. Fantastic view of the Missouri River.

This is simply one of the top 5 hiking areas in the Omaha council bluffs region. I should know as I know every square inch of these lands. Very hilly with some incredible views. You will feel like you are in the foothills of a mountain range. When you pull in there go to the far back and go to the hiking trail on the left and hike along the ridge with the most scenic views.

It's the best view of the Missouri River valley in the area. During raptor migration, Hitchcock ranks in the top 20 birding sites in the nation.

Hitchcock Nature Center might be my favorite place in the area. Iowa was once quite scenic, but 99.9% of it has been plowed under for corn and bean fields.Hitchcock provides a rare opportunity for nature hikes in this area. The trails are great, and the visitor's center is well done.

Wonderful scenic views in the Loess Hills. Knowledgeable staff that offer lots of programming for schools and preschools. A gem! Enjoy a walk on the boardwalk made for accessibility. Find a couple geocaches. Take the stairs to the top of the tower.

A great place to watch birds and other wildlife. I love the hike-in camp sites. It's great to be up in the hills, with a view of the Omaha metro, sitting by a campfire. The staff do a great job of maintaining this place. I saw a mountain lion here while hiking in September of 2007.

Lovely campsites in a dell away from the noise of the RVs. Seriously, one RV had a plasma TV set up outside. Anyway, the primitive areas are lovely. The nature/visitor's center has an astonishing view, great to watch the sunset.

Well marked trails. Photogenic views. Maps indicate easy, medium, and difficult trails and give mileage. Admission is $2 per car and a bargain. Best months May and October. Watch out on the days with heat over 95F -- bring plenty of water on those days

the center is clean and staff are friendly. The hawk tower is a climb but worth the view. Some of the trails are a little daunting but nothing too bad. Went on the 5k run and that is pretty tough - the typically hiker wouldn't likely go that far into the park though.
