The gate was open so we could walk around the site and look at the old buildings. However, the Ski Museum was still closed with the sign "Closed due to unforeseen circumstances" still posted. You might wish to call first!
Were Closed When They Were Supposed to Be Open! Went at 1 in the afternoon, on a Monday, and there was a sign on the door that they were closed for some "unforseen reason". We had scheduled our entire afternoon a round that to go there. Were they out of volunteers or? Small, and not much to speak of on the outside.
This is a great small museum. One building covers local history and another covers a brief history of skiing in the region. One docent was very busy covering the whole thing, but we enjoyed the stop
we tried to go here, but they were closed for a remodel during the peak of ski season. What's that about? Why not do a remodel during the SUMMER when the winter sports enthusiasts aren't around? We would have liked to have gone here, but couldn't.
What a great museum to check out in Ketchum. Ski history and local history. Great videos on skiing at Sun Valley and also on Hemmingway.
This is a small museum in a small town, however it is worth a visit to see the collection of historic ski equipment, history of the area, and information about Hemingway's time in Sun Valley. It is a fun stop in the beautiful downtown of Ketchum.
We always take our house guests through the Museum. Wonderful changing displays of Wood River Valley history. Knowledgeable staff and beautiful setting in Forest Service Park.
The museum exhibits featured local history, including the Hemingway era in the valley, as well as the local ski champions.
Self guided with a knowledgable monitor. Great exhibit!
Learned about the museum in the visitor's center and decided to walk down there since we had a beautiful day. Admission is free which is a bonus. The staff person there was very friendly and helpful. The museum has alot of Olympic artifacts from Sun Valley folks and some really old ski gear that some of us old ski die hards will remember from our youth and stuff that is even older than that. The other piece that is nice is that there is a little section with some Hemingway artifacts and also a nice selection of memorabilia from the towns early days. Also recommend that you go look in the windows where the old wagons are from frontier days (next to the Ketchum Grill restaurant). Those are really interesting to look at. You engineer and builder types will love them.
