We hiked a lot of this trail and it was still amazing to experience. To climb one of the high points and see how far it goes will blow your mind.

This is a classic ride and unlike anything you have every ridden before. The trail is steep ups and downs so come prepared.

Even if you're not a big mountain biker go rent a bike and ride this route!! It's like no other ride you'll ever do in your lifetime. I almost made the mistake of riding it in road bike cleats/pedals which would be dangerous because there are some very steep climbs. If you don't make it up than when you put your foot down you'd slide back down and hurt yourself badly. Stick to Mtn bike shoes!

A great ride to begin or end your trip. ride to it from town as the climb up ll warm you up, ride the loop either way and coast back to town for beer!

Last year I visited Moab and stayed at the Sand Flats campground. No one in our group rode slick rock and this year I was determined to try it. It was not for me...my mistake. I started to ride it at 4:15 and was scheduled to do a big ride the next morning to the Burrow Pass area. This was weighing on me as I was starting this gruelling ride so I bailed and did the practice loop - big mistake, it was hard! I thought practice translated into just a taste of the big loop. My bad. I am an intermediate rider and know that there are so many more fun trails around Moab - Mag 7, Klondike Bluffs, UPS, LPS, Porcupine Rim...I will stick to these most enjoyable rides.

This is my all time fav. I feel sad when I leave. If you enjoy xc biking this is your motherland. It really is for a seasoned biker, intermediates will have difficulty on it. Must like steeps and be a bit fearless for the slickrock. If this is you...you will be addicted!!! I have rode the slickrock 4 times and I'm planning my return visit!

Slickrock trail is an experience of a lifetime. There are some quite harrowing parts of the trail, and inexperienced riders should think twice about bombing around the slickrock near sharp drop-offs without some guidance or instruction prior to departing. There are some very difficult and strenuous parts, while other areas are mild and fun to play around on. Bring tons of water. The sun beats on you the entire trail and there's minimal shade to rest. Also, wouldn't be a bad idea to bring a small first-aid kit for those annoying scrapes.

A definite must do if you're down for the mtn biking. Sure there's lots of other trails you're going to want to hit that offer similar slick rock and single track, etc, but Slickrock Trl can't be missed. All ages can handle it w/ a little caution for younger & new riders. Ya, it can be crowded at times but considering how unique the terrain is, the vastness of the trail system & the proximity to town, this can't be beat. Ride it & love it!

We took out dirtbikes and got lots of sneers from the mountain bikers. I guess they failed to read the sign that explained the trial was originally made by dirt bike guys... Any who the trial is really cool with some awesome views. The whole park is really neat.

I am an experienced rider, but not an experienced mountain biker. Slickrock is no walk in the park. Its a tough ride if inexperienced, underequipped, or underprepared (as in protective gear/pads and lots of fluids). Not for hybrids, one needs a real mountain bike. Otherwise you will be walking a lot, and putting your bike at risk for damage. Still a good experience, but a physically demanding one.

This trail is definitely a 4 out of 4 on the difficulty scale. We rode the practice loop which offered great scenic views and a cardio workout. The area is nice, sopped every so often for photos. $5 per vehicle to enter the park.

It's a beautiful area but most cyclists have to walk a portion of the trail, even the one called Practice Loop. It's one of the more famous trails but we only stayed about 90 minutes until we moved on. The rock is like sandpaper and quite the opposite of slick. If you fall on it, you will get scraped up.

Well, it's Moab and if you're into MTB then there's really not much more to say than go ride Slickrock! This trail was the reason for our family heading to Moab in the first place. It is by no means an introductory MTB trail so if you are "beginerish", you might not want to look for another trail. If you have never ridden any type of slickrock before I would highly suggest doing the practice loop first. It really helped me get used to the rental bike that I was on plus added a couple of miles to the trail itself.

First time back to Slickrock after 20++ years. Ended up riding Slickrock twice, once to reacquaint myself with the terrain and trail, and the second time to rip it. Yes, it is very steep at times going up and down, but what a challenge. If you have the legs, and lungs, to keep your bike moving, you can make it up every uphill challenge. If you are comfortable locking your back brake and sitting on your back wheel, you can make it down any descent.Yes, it is very technical, challenging, and difficult, but you should know that before you even attempt to ride it. So...no complaining. If you want easy, flowing trails, pick another trail.Best time to ride is at sunrise, before the heat and any possible crowds. FYI...you do need to pay $5.00 to get into the Rec area where trail is located.

My husband and I came to Moab for our honeymoon and looked forward to riding this trail. It is significantly different from where we usually ride, so there is definitely a learning curve. I highly suggest the practice loop for those who are not used to slickrock. I ended up with a few battle scars from our ride, but it is amazingly beautiful. If you are not a very technical rider, walking is advisable, but it will take you a lot longer. I would recommend starting early and bringing lots of water. I heard locals and frequenters of Moab suggesting riding this is March or April. Fun trail, but just take it seriously. Give it the respect it deserves and walk what you need to. Have fun!!
