your level of enjoyment will depend on what exhibits they have at the time and if they peak your interest. They have a sculpture outside that is so interesting, It is a manipulated Hum-V with Whale sounds coming from it. even if you don't enjoy the inside this sculpture is worth walking past.
We love taking our kids to the Frist. First of all, kids under 18 are free. And there is an incredible space for children on the upper level (Martin ArtQuest Gallery) where they can enjoy all kinds of art-related activities. And the entire museum is small enough that it's not overwhelming to see everything on your visit. So glad that Nashville has the Frist
It is nice to be able to see exhibits here, spacious area and unique building. I have drive up from Memphis to see several that I would have missed since they were not presented locally.
The Frist has outstanding art shows year round and is not to be missed during a visit to Nashville. In addition to the art , there are tours of the building ( federal art deco architecture ) and well stocked bistro.
This is such a fun place and you can pick which events interest you. Frist fridays happen during the warmer months with band and wine and cocktails to purchase. If there is something you want to see there this is the time to go since the admission gets you music and the museum too.
Frist is a majestic building with great exhibits. If staying in downtown Nashville, it's right on Broadway and worth checking out.
We were very fortunate to be able to see the Kadinsky show during our visit to the Frist. And in the past we have seen many great exhibitions. But even if you are unfamiliar with the exhibition artist, the Frist must be on your list. The building is an incredible art deco facility and it is beautiful. Be sure to check it out.
The Frist has many exhibits on the first floor. Tour guides are available.. (call for tour times if wish to participate). The second floor has a wonderful interactive area for kids and adults to make art. Many volunteers are there to help you with your masterpiece.
They don't have a permanent collection, but I've seen several good exhibitions here. There are generally two or three at any given time. It's in a nice building as well, the old post office. If you like art museums, check and see what's on at the Frist. The cafetería is nice, by the way, and quite an acceptable place for lunch if you're downtown.
The museum doesn't have its own permanent collection and it brings in fabulous shows: Kandinsky and early Renaissance art.
Love this place. Could spend days here. Gift shop is amazing. Unique finds. Reasonable prices. Worth the drive! The building is magnificent.
We went for a rainy day to the Frist to go through the kids section for my 6yo and 3yo. They both had a wonderful time painting, building, etc. Parking was easy. I was a little surprised that the overall museum was small but it is definately worth the visit.
Wonderful museum - both the magnificent Art Deco building and the high quality exhibits. We saw a fantastic Kandinsky retrospective that was top notch.
I love the visual arts and all the entertaining, educational things at the Frist center. A must see if you visit Nashville
This is Nashville, so this isn't on par with the major art museums of other cities. However, it's inexpensive, and you can still easily spend a full afternoon looking at the works in the building. The works are interesting and the tours are informative. The Center draws some quality exhibits as well that are worth the price of admission. My knowledge of art isn't on the same level as many connoisseurs, but I think admirers of all shapes will find something to enjoy here.
