This was our 3rd visit. It is always a fun visit. The tastings are free and so is the "entertainment" by the staff. the sweetshine is very good and we have purchased several bottles. Unfortunately at this time the distillery is closed due to a battle with the government of WV. We hope this problem will be resolved as we would love to go back and take friends and family.
I planned a weekend getaway for my wife for her birthday and put together stops along the way. She had NO IDEA of each place we were going beforehand. You can imagine the look on her face when we pulled off the road onto the Bloomery Plantation gravel road and walked into the renovated barn. It was not until we were upstairs awating our tasting that I told her what the place was. When we left, she said it was awesome and loved that I added this to one of our stops and experiences. The hosts were AWESOME and made the experience that much more fun. Oh, and the Shine was great to. We bought 2 bottles.
We made a spur of the moment decision to visit Bloomery Plantation and fell in love with their sweetshine! The staff was so much fun and super friendly. All of the hooch we sampled was delicious and I really enjoyed my Ginger -hot apple cider! We bought bottles for ourselves and as gifts. This is a stop you don't want to miss! Plus, the tasting is free
At the recommendation of our innkeeper we followed the trail to find the distillery. Our "great at her job" hostess Rosie and the "amazingly tall" bouncer Zooey really know to to entertain and enlighten their customers. Their non-stop product related patter was just a delight for all of us at the tasting bar. It helps that the quality of all their moonshine was outstanding. Definitely worth a repeat visit.
What a blast!!!! We saw this on TripAdvisor and thought, let's give it a try. We weren't misled! What a great place. Wonderful folks! Zoe is the absolute BEST. The owner is a sweetie. You just couldn't feel more welcome. We even toured the greenhouse. And, the SweetShine is delish! We bought four bottles to take home and serve to our friends and family. We will definitely visit again. Don't skip this place!
I found this while visiting interesting sites for WV close to Hollywood Casino. SO WORTH the ten minute drive! Hard to find so plan on passing and making a U turn. Visited in January so my husband and I were the only patrons on a Thursday afternoon but Russell the "Funtender" treated us well. The samples of products were exceptional as well as the commentary! We walked out with 7 bottles!!!!!! And I can see visiting their website to order more in the future. I would think that this would really be a FUN place to visit during warmer months so worth your time if you want to get away from the casino. Quality products and well worth the $$. Can't wait to start mixing!!!!
Great place to take family and friends who are visiting this area. Great staff, unique building with tons of history and then the hooch, oh the hooch is oh so good. So many flavors to try.The way to use them in recipes is unlimited.
We stopped in over the weekend, and were pleasantly surprised with this boutique distillery! The atmosphere and staff are down to earth, funny, friendly, and just plain awesome! With a selection of 9 different flavors to taste, and an extended tasting that's even better, you find yourself wanting to hang out by the fire and enjoy the fun. There is an outdoor tasting room and a greenhouse they allow you to tour, but the back bar where Rita (aka. Fred) will dazzle you with award winning liquor a and reality show worthy personality was by far my favorite part of the adventure. This is a definite MUST if you're in the area! Don't let the banjo music scare you, it's friendly!
This is a fun place to go to hear some different music. They offer outdoor music in the summer and indoor later on. It has a very hippy funky artsy fartsy vibe that is always fun. The drinks are delicious. The only thing is that once you taste them, there is little else to do but buy the bottles. you can't really just sit there and have drinks. I wish!!!
Visited on our way to Pa and had a great time. Enjoyed all the different flavors and especially loved the stories that went with the tastings. Distillery is known for limoncello but we bought the ginger shine. Staff was fun and entertaining and we will definitely stop again when in the area.
This was our second trip to the distillary. Love the samples. End up having to take some home to enjoy. The staff is friendly and funny. Will probably go again.
This distillery is tucked away off a main road. We had no idea moonshine came is so many flavors but were pleasantly surprised but what we experienced. Although we do wish the samples were a bit more generous (especially after purchasing 3 bottles) we througly enjoyed our visit. The cost of the bottles is a little pricey BUT we didn't mind spending it on something "new" to us. The staff does their best to be entertaining but some times it was a bit of overkill....nonetheless, overall we enjoyed it and plan on bringing other friends back in the near future.
Went there this past weekend and had an absolutley wonderful time. The distillery is kind of in the middle of nowhere which give it quite a charming feel. It is pretty small (a house with a covered bar outback) and another small structure next to it where you can also get mixed drinks. The tasting is free and you get to taste all the shine they have (and taste more than once if you'd like) - the pumpkin spice and the chocolate raspberry were my favorite! But they were all very good. The staff was very fun, friendly and knowledgeable. Most of the activities were outside which I didn't know - so be prepared if it's a little chillier out. They have 2 firepits and lots of seating around them to warm you up. Just another thing to note: you are not allowed to buy a bottle of the shine and consume it on the premisis so you have to buy the drinks they have there if you want additional drinks. I had the Sex on the Peach, Dreamsicle and the hot chocolate with chocolate raspberry shine in it. ALL delicious! We had a really fun time - glad we went.
Friendly folks, great WV "shine", and interesting history. Spend some time getting to know Rob and crew, while tasting a variety of WV "shine", listen to local musicians and get a history lesson while enjoying beautiful mountain views. Your first visit will not be your last.
What can you say.. you are greeted by a host at the front door. He asks you a few questions and then gives you the instructions for the tour. The first one is... that the tasting is free.. that you can sample as much as you want. and its encouraged. Then you are allowed to go in. Sitting down at the bar we were greeted by Zoe. She started pouring the cordials and we just had the best time. It was as if we knew her for forever and we were a group of 50 somethings. After the tasting at the bar, you are invited outside in the back, where there seating areas, a fire pit another tasting bar and a bar for purchase.. where you can buy large cups, coffee or tea with the cordials in it, smore kits, or even bottles. They have live music at night but we didnt get to hear it as we were there in the afternoon. The bottles are not cheap, but they are delicious, they are all hand done so you can understand that this is a time consuming process where they have to farm the product, distill it, bottle it, etc.. We purchased 8 bottles ..Definitely, if you do anything in this area, you have to go here.. and please tell Zoe hello for us.
