Our guide was completely professional, informative, and courteous to make sure that I had an excellent trip. I can now say that I have caught and landed a Kenai salmon, trout, and dollyvarden. Kenai River Trout Anglers provided us with the float of a lifetime! Not only did we catch lots of trout and tasty salmon, but we enjoyed the views and wildlife of the Kenai River and Kenai Mountains. We saw bald eagles, a grizzly bear, and even a moose crossing the river! JJ was a very helpful guide, putting us on the fish and helping us land them! Taking a cooler full of fresh alaskan salmon home is just about the best thing ever! See you next year!

JJ is plain and simply the man. He is one of those guys who truly loves what he is doing. You get that sense when you're out there and it starts rubbing off on you. It made the trip so much more enjoyable. I didn't feel pressured to catch fish. I was simply enjoying the breathtaking surroundings. I would recommend JJ in a heartbeat. We could not have asked for a better guide to show us the ropes. This was an event on my son's Make A Wish Trip. My unsteady son was in good hands! He fished and had the time of his life. My husband I were happy to fish the day away with our excellent guide. Would love to do it again sometime!

Being a guide myself I'm always skeptical to hiring a guide for a fishing trip. I usually prefer and have more fun finding the fish myself. However, spending a day with JJ this October was amazing! He has a great personality and is extremely knowledgeable about the Kenai area. He is a "fishy" guy that will set you up with the right equipment and put you on the fish, whether you fly fish or spin cast. JJ is an excellent oarsmen with the boat and will keep you in all the right drifts. Me and a buddy spent a full day with Kenai River Trout Anglers and although the fishing had been slow the previous week, JJ put us on fish all day long. We caught Rainbow Trout, Char, Whitefish, and Silver Salmon. We even had a few monster rainbows on with one landed! I would recommend Kenai River Trout Anglers to anyone wishing to experience the magnificent Kenai River with an excellent,friendly, and knowledgeable guide. I would highly recommend Kenai River Trout Anglers to anyone who wants an authentic experience with a capable, knowledgeable, friendly, and fun guide. JJ clearly loves his craft and was excited to share his 15 plus years of expertise with us. He treated our group of ladies to a fun, and productive float, capped by stories and science. His love of salmon, trout and the Kenai was evident throughout our trip. We caught several chunky dollies, some glistening rainbows, and even a few gnarly pink salmon! JJ was always ready with a rod and helpful tips on how to have the most success. Hands down, this is the only Kenai guide I would choose in the future!

I was in Alaska for nearly a month this year and I have to say that fishing with JJ August 25th was by far the highlight of the trip. We caught fish all day long and JJ was constantly working. He always had an extra rod or two rigged up and there was no down time in the fishing. The three of us had a 150+ fish day with a bunch of quality fish. With the number of outfits available on the Kenai it's hard to know which one to pick. Most have great photos and promise a true " Alaskan" Kenai fishing experience. I haven't always found this to be the case. However, meeting JJ for the first time you feel a sense you're about to truly embark on one of these great adventures many of us seek. His humbleness and immense river knowledge go hand in hand. He is patient and doesn't tell you " this is the only way to catch fish here" but rather approaches the trip with a positive attitude of coaching and passing on the techniques used to make your line go tight. He is great with people of all skill level and all ages. Whether it's your first time with a fly rod or you've been doing it your entire life, the experience, knowledge and memories you'll walk away with after a day out there with him is immeasurable. From someone who grew up fly fishing and lives permanently in AK, it says a lot about the way he operates his business. I have fished with him numerous times now and one personal account I have is being in a spot that every other guide had passed up. JJ knew right where he was going and pulled into the hole. There were 3 of us fishing and on the second cast a 24inch rainbow was in the net. This CONTINUED for 2hrs hooking BIG fish on just about every other cast, if not the first one we made after a release. That's the kind of knowledge he brings to the table. I will continue to fish with him and I encourage anybody either coming to AK for a vacation, or those living here to give Trout Anglers a call. You wont be disappointed

We couldn't have been happier with our fishing trip on the Kenai. We caught trout all day, and some salmon towards the end of our trip. JJ provided excellent service, and had a mastery of the river. Would highly recommend.

JJ provided such a quality fishing trip in the fall of 2013 we came back again for a late August 2014 trout/dollie adventure and our expectations were exceeded. JJ showed us two full days of fish-on and another memory maker. Thank you JJ from the Elkins as we are already planning for next year.
