This is a place I often go to get away from the beach and town traffic. Watch clouds, Fly a kite,Zen Yoga, Read a Mystery (Demille, Stephan Carter from O.B. and Yale wrote the "Emperor of Ocean Park, a good read, or any other Vineyard Author) eat a picnic lunch from one of the restaurants on or about Circuit Ave. This is a Heavenly spot.
We have walked or driven around the park many times over the years. It is well maintained, great for families or romance. Worth seeing, if nothing else for the relaxation and the view eastward over Vineyard Sound. It's not far from the Steamship Authority pier, so if you want to hang out at the park before your "ship comes in", this is the place.
This park is across from the ocean and near everything. It is surrounds by darling homes and just a very pleasant place to stroll around.
Ocean Park is a great place to go walk around and a great place for kids. It has wonderful ocean views and you can see the beautiful victorian houses. I would definitely stop buy here.
We spent time here each time we walked to or from "town" from our hotel. The grounds are well taken care of and the fountain looks beautiful lit up at night.
Ocean Park is obviously set along the ocean in Oak Bluffs, overlooking the ferry docks on one side and historic Victorian homes on the other. It's a wonderful park where people fly kites and dogs run around chasing balls. Idyllic setting with a small gazebo. Martha's Vineyard Transit buses pick up and drop off at the base of the hill, near the ferry docks.
Ocean park is full of pic nics, kites, and lined with beautiful homes. Of course the water view and breeze are spectacular!
This is just a park. No reason to travel to oak bluffs to see this park, however if,you are in town to see cottages you.might want to check it out. Benches are comfy and have nice views of the ocean and there is a lot of activity to observe.
This is a lovely park to relax with a good book. As expected, during the annual summer fireworks, this park is crowed with family setting up as early as noon for the evening firework show. If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful park to meditate or relax this is a wonderful spot anytime except during the fireworks.
Beautiful park, especially on fireworks night with the thousands of people enjoying great fireworks. First a band concert, then the fireworks.
This is a beautiful park. It's a great place to come with kids to fly kites or have a picnic. It has a nice view of the ocean.
I'm puzzled at all the rave reviews of the park. There's grass, a few small fountains, a gazebo and some interesting architecture around it, but don't waste your time!
Just sitting on a park bench and enjoying the day with activities of a lll generations, from soccer, to tag, to the fountain. What a great way to relax!
Yes, this is "just a park". And yes, it is like a lot of other parks - big grassy areas, flowers, and a lovely gazebo in the center. And this one also has a great view of the ocean. But more than photos are able to capture is the ambiance. There is lots of activity surrounding the park, as it is a central area for much of the transportation industry (ferries, buses, cabs) in Oak Bluffs, yet putting that aside you can appreciate the surroundings - majestic "Gingerbread" homes with spectacular gardens, the ocean in the foreground, and large open areas for picnics or sun bathing. What it does not have is shade trees. This is not the kind of park to go to if that is what you are looking for - but sun lovers who don't want to deal with the sand and sea, those looking for a great picnic spot, or families seeking a place to let the kids run wild - this is the place for you!
Like the title of my review says, it's JUST a park. A large grassy field with a gazebo on it. Whoop-de-do. Why the raving reviews? Nearly every town in America has a park like this. I suppose it's a nice place for a picnic, near the gingerbread houses, but don't go out of your way to see it. There's nothing WRONG with this place; it's just a run-of-the-mill park.
