Wow - what a find.l Totally did not expect all the hard work they have done to restore and maintain this wonderful house. If you are anywhere near Clinton, it is worth the visit - not to mention the Apple'n Pork Festival each year.Unlike some historic mansions, this has been fully restored and all of it open to the public. They provide an overview of the house, then you are free to explore on your own. The entrance donation is $3 but after the visit, we gave more because they have made this a community project, to raise the funds and restore it.The most remarkable room is the library all with original furniture and books of CH Moore. The book carousels are amazing as is the balcony around the room. Remarkable. Basement holds the Dewitt County Museum and is loaded with various collections including quite a bit of military memorabilia. Did not return for their Christmas candlelight tours but the staff indicated is quite the event.Really enjoyed the visit ... well worth the drive. It was cold but there are other buildings next to the house which has a number of collections including a farm exhibit. Didn't check it out but will next time!
