My historian husband and I spent several hours exploring the museum. The artifacts, paintings, and special Grandma Moses exhibit were memorable.
A nice small museum, rich with an abundance of displays and variety, very diverse, we were very happy with it.
I stopped by the museum to see Grandma Moses paintings and only had 40 mins. I wish I had had longer as it was a little jewel of a museum. I love a museum that you can do in a couple of hours as I am not a big lover of the large ones. The paintings were lovely and there was an exhibit of 2 portrait artist( that I wish I had written down their names) upstairs that were very interesting.
We didn't expect this museum to be a good as we found it to be. Great exihibts on local history and life, the revolutionary war battle fought nearby. We really enjoyed the exhibit of Grandma Moses paintings. Don't miss this opportunty to learn more about Vermont life culture.
We loved the Bennington Potters and did buy a bunch of VT made keep sakes on our visit. Only thing that was disappointing was all the Asian imports they also sell. But thing things they actually make there are awesome. The staff is friendly. It's a fun visit, for sure.
The number one land mark in the area. Built on a hill in the middle of the valley and over looking Bennington the monument offers the best view on the area. A must do.
Traveling through Vermont, we stopped at the Bennington Museum. It wasn't an outstanding Museum, but the friendlly staff and the unusually collection made it a highlight of our trip through Northern New England. Be sure to check out the 'ecletic' statue at the entrance. The Gramma Moses collection is supposed the best in the world.
Very good Grandma Moses collection and also includes her schoolhouse Nice interaction for kids. Other nice exhibits. Note the statue of Abraham Lincoln at the entrance
we stopped by on our way to the battlefield and were surprised to find all the Grnma Moses paintings-the interactive schoolroom for kids was marvelous. Then the displays of handwork and tools were fantastic. we were pleasantly surprised
We enjoyed our visit to the gallery. Well laid out and plenty to see. Particularly loved seeing all the Grandma Moses paintings.
We stopped in on a rainy fall day, and were surprised to see such a varied collection: from Grandma Moses to guns. The focus on Grandma Moses' paintings and the history of her life (including her schoolhouse) added a deeper understanding of her life and times. The exhibit on the Battle of Bennington was interesting as was the history of guns in Vermont. The staff was very friendly, and available to answer any questions.
Came to see the Grandma Moses exhibition. They also have a nice collection of furniture and a few Tiffany pieces. Worth the stop.
This museum is loaded with tons of local paintings, and items specific t the region. They have one of the oldest flags in the country on display which was in the battle of Bennington plus the Grandma Moses school house with time period costumes for all to dress up in..... all and all a great way to spend a day with a minimal amount of money spent!
A wonderful find for my wife and I while visiting southern Vermont. A very nice collection of local and regional paintings, furniture, and home furnishings with several special collections and exhibits - the Grandma Moses and Bennington Battle rooms were excellent! Worth the stop!
We were pleasantly surprised at the variety in the museum. We enjoyed learning about this lovely town and especially viewing the Grandma Moses paintings. Worth the stop.
