景点点评
After meandering down a back road that turns to gravel, you find yourself at the only entrance to this preserve dedicated to the stand of large old White Pines that is found a bit down the trail. You might discover you are among the White Pines by their smell even before you notice the trees themselves--the White Pine has that most "piney" of smells, and reminds the hiker of campfire nights in the northern US and Canada. After marvelling at the pines, one can continue hiking to either an overlook of the Rocky River or dip down into a valley and come to the confluence of the Rocky and Deep Rivers. Ducks, Herons, warblers (most visible in spring), interesting fungi, and spring wildflowers await the visitor, who can within a couple of hours hike through a diverse landscape of rocky hills, swampy areas, river valleys, and upland woods. This is a quiet place, off the beaten track, and well worth many visits at many times of year.
