overlook park

Went in the middle of the day and walked along the dam. The walk was 0.8 miles one way but with a nice, large path that allowed everyone to walk comfortably. The park is pet friendly (a plus) and definitely a family favorite. The gate to get to the walkway on the dam wasn't accessible for a wheelchair so I would call in advance as they have a gate that they can open. All in all, stunning views and a relaxing way to spend your time.

While on a drive up from San Antonio to see Canyon Lake, we noticed that Overlook Park was the number one rated attraction at the lake. We decided that it was worth a visit, so we drove over to the park. We were not disappointed. What a beautiful location with great views of the lake. While at the park, we enjoyed watching two road runners with our granddaughter, a rare sight for visitors from Vermont. This park is popular as we notice lots of people visiting. It was not crowded though, at least on the day we visited.

My wife and I were encouraged to visit this park by the extremely helpful ladies who worked in the local chamber of commerce visitors centre. It was a short drive up to the park. There was no fee. From the park, we walked just under a mile across the top of the dam to the other side. It was steady stroll over the flat path - no need for walking shoes here. There was plenty of raptor action - the birds seem to be posing to provide the best profile. This is a highly recommended stop if you wish to enjoy tranquillity and a scenic vista.

we arrived about an hour before sunset and walked around the park. if you are military, you can enter on that side of the park-- which stays open longer. then we had a campfire and snacks--- while enjoying the beautiful sunset and stars. lovely area--- nicely developed and maintained with restrooms, areas for campfire, picnic tables with covers, and campsites.

Nice view of the lake. Short hike to the water. The water is aqua blue and clear as glass. Beautiful.

Wonderful view and great place to take a swim. Lake is so clear and clean. Great trails and parking.

We enjoyed hiking around the lake; easy rock climbing (stepping over/on rocks); LOTS OF TRASH!!! I was saddened by the amount of litter!!!! Spent most of my day wishing I had another day available to go back with a trash bag!! Such a shame people who litter don't have more respect for the area around them.

we seen this lake for the first time this year and never knew there was such a beautiful place to swim like this in Texas! we have been many times since July and am looking forward to next summer now that we know about this amazing place!!! a gorgeous sight to see especially near sunset!

The view from the dam is gorgeous. We wish we knew about it sooner but now we know where we're going to swim at next year!

Provides an elevated view of Canyon Lake from atop the dam. You can also walk across the dam (0.8 miles one-way).Although we did not, it appears you can swim here. A little walk down a path to the lake has what appears to be reasonable access to get wet.

Although the "park host," as it read on her truck, was unpleasant to my family, the views surpassed her ignorance and rudeness. The Overlook Park is a must see if you're in the area. I visited on a Thursday, it wasn't crowded, be prepared for a rough rocky walk down if you take the upper path, otherwise take the first pathway.

This is our favorite place to walk with new visitors to the lake. Great view of the lake and river below the dam.

This is a great view of Canyon Lake and the hill country. FREE parking and no entry fee. It was a nice walk to see all of the Lake and the surrounding hill country.

We sure enjoyed the Canyon Lake Tx Dam and Overlook Park. It is safe for little ones to walk on the dam and on the trails. Also, do go below the dam and hike along or in the stream, too. Great family outing!!
