Enjoyable place to stroll the shops and look over the interesting New Mexico architecture of the past. We always make a point to come and relax a little after a long days drive. And invariably we find a little something to buy for friends. Check out the beautiful Basilica of San Albino located at the north end of the square. It was built in 1906 over the adobe church established in 1851. Recommended.
Make sure you stop by and see this unique and fun old style place. Give you a real sense of they way it was...
This is a small square that will take you back in time. There are a few lovely shops with affordable and unique finds. There are also a few restaurants favored by locals and travelers alike. If you are road weary, this is a stop that will refresh. Tour the square and shops in about 30 minutes then grab a bite to eat and you are back on the road in about an hour total.
The small central plaza has several very nice shops. Everything was quiet and everyone was helpful and kind. Sundays there is a market in the square. Unspoiled.
There is a lot of history at this site. A visit to the Double Eagle Restaurant is worth your time-a great historic building.
We come from the mid-west where there is virtually no contact with the history of the old west - with the exception of Mexican restaurants - and they are not a particularly good source of history! We enjoyed our time in Old Mesilla Village. Yes, it is a sanitized version of the past, with all the art shops, but it was great fun none the less.
I love this place. I've been 3 times after a friend recommended it. Now I make a point to stay there whenever I drive from CA to TX to visit family. Friendly people, great shops, and restaurants. It's small but very charming.
We are fortunate to reside a mere six blocks from Old Mesilla. The village retains its old Mexico charm, and folks that could afford to live anywhere choose to live there. The shops and restaurants make for both a great tourist experience and romantic charm. The Basilica acts as the keystone of the Plaza. The Plaza enjoys many public events that are enjoyable for all age groups.
Good shopping area with interesting stores. Does not take long to see all the stores around the small square, but worth your time.
Very old and quaint! Lovely place to visit to see some history and experience first hand what village life was like. Loved the chocolate shop with their hand made truffles and the cantina serving genuine mexican food.
Old Mesilla Village is a small restored section of townfeaturing souvenir shops, basilica and the site of thecourthouse where Billy the Kid was found guilty ofmurder. Nothing special if you've visited cities andtowns throughout the Southwest, but a nice way tospend an hour or so.
Lots of little shops over several blocks in Old Mesilla. Something for everyone: jewelry, clothing, wine, pistachios, art, unique sauces, dips, marinades, great Mexican restaurants, and much more. Fun browsing and shopping!
Old Mesilla Village is a cool place to visit. My family lives in Las Cruces and we spent several hours simply walking around, looking in the shops, and taking in the charm of the small community. The Catholic church at the end of the block was open and was beautiful. Cool to visit a small functioning church from years ago. There was this cool local book seller on the block. Had local interest books as well as many other genres. Pay him a visit. Typical tourist marketplace as well, called Billy the Kid's Souvenirs. Has a cool history linked to the notorious outlaw.
The food is great and the people are kind. They have wonderful events as well. I dislike nothing at all.
Had a great time walking the area Had a large variety of places right in the square. We especially likes the old church
